MrMagpie
When you're taking Environmental classes at school (and geology courses) it certainly seems that way! I'm writing a Philosophy paper on the Hydrogen economy right now. (well researching it some more first).
chuck kottke
Hydrogen economy - :thinking:I think synthetic zeolites are the answer, for storage. Nickel (part of Nickel Metal Hydride) is too rare, expensive, and environmentally risky to put into every auto on the planet.. It could work, but there's other ways as well.. Carbon Nanotubes could be one solution for energy storage, as well as flywheels, light-element batteries.. Well, what does your research tell you, Briggins? MrMagpie
I'll let you know once I finish the paper. ;) I'm using a book I used for another class, so I'm just refreshing myself on what I already read.

chuck kottke
What is the meaning of Scouts' Day in Slovenia??:)
Ms Magpie
What is the meaning of Scouts' Day in Slovenia??:) On 22th April 1951 scouts founded Slovene Scouts' Association. But it wasn't what it is nowadays, it was a mixture of catholic scouts and some other people who practised scouts' skills (their association was founded by Ernest Thompson Seton). Later it became a scout association. And a part of WOSM.
Josh42
I'm all for a day to remind us all to treat the Earth nicely and not litter and all, but if this has anything to do with Global Warming... http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2007/11/07/weather-channel-founder-global-warming-greatest-scam-history
HorrificAttack
Global Warming is not a myth it happens naturally, but what we are doing to the earth is proven to be accelerating the effects
Josh42
No offense Horrific, and I don't mean to start a debate here, but did you read the article I posted? Yes, the Earth does naturally warm, but who's got more credibility in Meteorological matters? The founder of the Weather channel...or Al Gore? That Weather channel guy sounds pretty damn confident. HorrificAttack
No I didn't read it but I have studied Geography at Advanced Level and we did a whole module on Global Warming
Josh42
The article states that a lot of data has been manipulated (I know I sound like a crazy conspiracy theorist :p). I'm not saying you're stupid or ignorant, like most enthusiasts of this are, you're just misinformed.
HorrificAttack
I really don't think I am though I don't base my entire knowledge of the subject on stats and figures I don't see how any harm can be done from our methods of reducing our emissions. So "better safe than sorry" wins for me, even if there is any ambiguity, why not go with the safe option as it doesn't harm anyone
HorrificAttack
I skim-read the article there if it is a "scam" what are these "scandalous" scientists getting out of making up this whole thing?
Josh42
I agree with go with the safe option, but we shouldn't have some massive economic drawback because of it. It should be a more gradual, less radical change than many want, because it hasn't been proven.
HorrificAttack
Why would they lie about it though?
Josh42
I skim-read the article there if it is a "scam" what are these "scandalous" scientists getting out of making up this whole thing? You've got me. Honestly though, more environmental researchers think Global Warming is not man made, the media just doesn't show that side of the issue.
HorrificAttack
Well it isn't man made at all, nobody is saying that the theory is that we are accelerating the process and making it much more difficult to see the majority of humans surviving in the future
Josh42
Yes, that's the theory, I worded it wrong.
HorrificAttack
Nuclear fusion is the way forward, if we embrace that it will do a lot of good
Josh42
Wow didn't expect for you to be a supporter of that, I totally agree it's the way to go, at least until we find a way to make a renewable resource produce power efficiently (the ones we have right now are highly inefficient).
