So, here people say that wishing someone "Good luck!" usually has the actual opposite effect, so they believe that if you say "Good luck!" to someone they will have bad luck

instead, they take "merde" they say on theatres. This comes from a bunch of years ago when actors wished each other beaucoup de merde before the premiere because if a play was successful, outside the theatre it was full of horse shit, because of all the people attendind the to see the play. So, merde was a sign of success in theatre.

Well I guess the rest can be understood now...
