I heard this expression describing the killers. Because obviously they have the sound of a british band despite being from America.

What other british american bands are there?

I thought of the strokes and jeff buckley, even though he's not a band.

I think The Bravery fit too.

Tey're not American, but Canada's In-Flight SAfety sound like a Brit band to me.

the killers and the strokes, definitely. i suppose DCFC is pretty american...do you think? the shins sound like they could be british too. but really, i have no idea what i'm talking about.

DCFC do sound quite american to me, but that might be just me. And when I first heard the Shins I thought they were an english band, so I guess they fit in for me :P

 

And Powderfinger are an Australian band who I think could also pass as being an english band.

Actually listening to it, I might be wrong about them sounding british, but who knows really. But they have that classic rock sound about then either way IMO.

Good! They've got lots of great songs which are better than that one, but not all of them are on youtube. I might bump the Powderfinger thread once i find some more videos ;)
