Meeting Coldplay before a show?

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever had any luck camping out at the venues to try to meet the band as they arrive? I'm sure security is tight. I would just love to meet them and get an autograph! Any ideas? Or anyone have stories with something that worked?

I asked this very same question and what I basically got was:

"You're never gonna meet them!! Mwahahahaha!!:devilish:"

sorry:\

I'm no expert but just because someone says "you'll never meet them" doesn't mean you won't - you never know! :)

Lots of people on here have met them. It's not impossible at all!:) But I think you just have to be in the right place at the right time, and understand they're incredibly busy and be respectful of that. They've made themselves available for autograph signings before, so keek your ear to the ground and good luck!!:D

I'd like to know how to meet them at the venue before the show, too. I wonder how early in the day they do soundcheck. Anyone know? What an event that would be to meet them...or even just one of them. It would make my year. :)

If you can, then you could make a flask and some sandwiches :D And wait by the stagedoor all day until they arrive for soundcheck and just stay there until the gig starts, then go back and wait afterwards. I waited about an hour to see Corinne Bailey Rae in the freezing cold, it was well worth it, she's so lovely!!!

I plan on it. I have to find out where the stage door is at the venue I am going to. I guess I'll look for the door with personnel and guards all around, I guess...

:P:D:smug: <<<< See. Me.

It was wonderfullllll!!!

Best 30 minutes of my life.....:sunny::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::thumbsup:

(never say never)

I have meet them but that was back in the day when they hung around at the venues and traveled by bus....a much more captive pray. :P You knew they were in the venue or the bus. They were bored and would come out to talk with you. Played in smaller venues where they had to walk between their bus and the backstage door in view of you. If you were willing to stand around after the concert until 1 or 2 in the morning, they would come over and say hi and sign stuff before they got on their bus to leave town...well not Guy because he's such a fookin diva.

What they did in South America....coming out at the hotel....they don't generally do.

Most of the venues they are playing in the US have underground or restricted areas where they enter backstage, so waiting there not an option. You can only wait by where the cars go in and they'll blow right past you and you won't even see them. Hotels, maybe but they don't always stay in that town either. Last tour they stayed in centralized locations and flew out to shows, left off the stage and were on their plane before you could even get out the venue to the parking lot. Check out the venue near you and see if it has restricted backstage area or if you can see where the entrance is. It will be roped off, but they will sometimes come over to talk before or after sound check is your best bet.

If you hear about them doing an interview at some radio station or something like that, you could have a shot, but interviews are usually done at the venue or over the phone. If they are actually at the studio that's a good place to try because you know where they will be and when they will be there.

Remember to always:

1. have a camera...ready to go

2. have something for them to sign and a sharpie for them to use

3. don't expect the world. They are usually very pressed for time now days and can't always sign or take pics and all you might get is a hi and wave.

*squeals* I'll hunt them down :sneaky:

:smug:Nope....NOT MISTAKEN....."BEST 30 (she said THIRTY MINUTES) of my life!

I was first inline for the Coldplay concert where I was, i lined up for 7hours lol.

But i only saw their cars rock up. I said hello to some of their crew who walked by. But security was tight and the most I got of them before the concert was hearing the soundcheck inside....o the memories come flooding back now.

And yes, Texas, most...."MOST"....! underground entrances are restricted where they enter/ exit. Call it luck of the Gods, whatever, but that`s exactly how I met them!

When leaving ( Will & Jonny in one suburban, Chris with the road manager in another)...(Guy absent" playing Diva , AGAIN)......I asked Jonny through the rolled down car window for an autograph. It was starting to rain, and the ink was running, so he rolled up the window, and instead jumped out of the truck, Will followed...gave us a hug, said "Thanks for waiting in the cold rain", did photos, autographs. Then Chris`s truck pulled up behind theirs, and out jumped Chris---making a beeline straight to my daughters very pregnant belly! ( Gwyneth was due to have Moses about roughly the same time as my daughter was due)

"30 MINUTES " of Heaven! ( and it was the road manager who made the guys leave!)

I am the Queen of the CP stalkers, they are afraid of me, though they shouldn't be, just because I follow them around like an insane person, I don't want to hurt them, I just want to rub their heads bwahahahaha

;)

ask lore...she has one of the best stories i know of :D

:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

I didn't wait outside the venue... from my experience at concerts, here it's totally different.. it's easier to stay outside the hotel and the bands come to say hi... it happened with coldplay and travis :D ... also heard U2 did it but I wasn't there

but outside the venue.. there's almost no chance of meeting them... like santiago only has 1 big airport... the airport is another place where you can meet them... I met the travis guys there... coldplay signed some stuff for fans too when they left the country.. and also some fans from argentina met them at their airport...

What they did in South America....coming out at the hotel....they don't generally do.

I'm sure it something more along the line of "good god we gotta get more security around here"

Nothing quite like rolling into town at 10 am to find a whole group of nutters waiting for you. :laugh3::laugh3:
