Coldplay have taken an unusual iTunes record, with new album Viva La Vida set to become the best-selling album pre-sale ever released in the history of Apple's music store, Apple insiders inform.

Not just that, but Coldplay's new collection is also set to beat the best ever first week iTunes album sales record on a global basis, a record currently held by Jack Johnson's Sleep Through The Static.
