Well,maybe not,the more I listen I see similarities, but it's a bit different

 it definitely sounds like this could be true!

and we know chris loves joking about plagiarizing! haha

i dunno...it depends also on when that was recorded, gpasuyf was recorded around 2002 right? it doesnt say when the other bands song was recoreded

edit: oh wait a minute, this was a cover of another song that was recorded a while ago, right? oppsie, lol. yeah i do see a similarity, it doesnt seem to me that it was plagiarized though, some songs are bound to sound alike.

Wow that is similar now you mention it! But they're hardly gonna get a stadium jumping or Paddy whathisname in the video to this song are they?

i agree with u(c4e)...... just cause it sounds a little alike doesnt mean they copied it

Plagiarized? Whatever gave you that idea?

Seriously though, if you look up other versions of that song they're quite different. That one just sounds the way it does (freakishly so) because of the style it's been arranged in. My guitar teacher played like that all the time.

The song was written sometime before 1966 according to wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toquinho

It's a chord/bass sequence that moves down one step at a time. It's going to co-incidentally pop up like that from time to time. As illustrated by the beginning bit of the first link I posted.

edit: ooh, check out this version:
