TraceOddity
Because I just got my copy home and put it on my good speakers!! HOLY SHIT!!!! IT's so much better sounding this way. I'm wishing now that I'd sved listening to it until I could put it on my stereo. It's like hearing it again fgor the first time!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
PianoRocker
Congratz with the copy!!! :D:D:D Indeed it is alot better and nicer if it is played on a stereo. :nice: And alot better with home cinema.. :laugh3:
winigwl
tracie what do you think of it? where does it rank for you?
Pseudonym
See, I abstained from the album until I had it on CD and it paid off. This should be a lesson to all of you:smug:
Saffire
My dad is an audio freak and we have a pair of $6000 speakers upstairs with a subwoofer. I set the receiver to Dolby Music and played it on a CD player with optical audio output... You can hear stuff that you never could with tiny little computer speakers or headphones. And Lost sounds like there are elephants stomping around :D
Space Cadet
Sounds like you need better computer speakers/a better sound card, Tracie. :P ;) Yes, it is one of those albums that does much better with better equipment. Unfortunatly, that means it's not so easy to hear on a bus. (Unlike Parachutes and AROBTTH, which are two of the best for cars/buses- probably because there's not so much going on in the music.) Saffire
See, I abstained from the album until I had it on CD and it paid off. This should be a lesson to all of you:smug: Actually she enjoyed the music on two levels - the first time for it's thematic and melodic nature, and the second time for its depth and texture. So arguably it's better to hear it in a low bitrate with crappy speakers first, because you can "re-experience" it later.

TraceOddity
Actually, that's a really good call, Saffire. My computer speakers aren't really crappy...I'm picky about speakers, lol. But they're no match for my stereo. I think at our next gig I'll plug my discman into our PA and see how THAT sounds!!:D I had forgotten that my ENTIRE Coldplay collection is in my stereo, so now I'm back to Parachutes. I think some comparative listening may be in order tonight!!:D My God, Don't Panic sounds so simple compared to VLV,lol...but still one of my favorite songs ever! How they've evolved...I could just about cry right now!!!!
mandymcnabb
Maybe that's the problem...I've been listening to it on shitty speakers...:(
Space Cadet
Maybe that's the problem...I've been listening to it on shitty speakers...:( That could very well be. A lot of the albums strengths this time around are in the really rich, warm textures that get lost on lesser speakers.
Marisa
Awww. Very cool Tracie. I can't wait to listen to it in the new car my grandparents just bought... it has a very very nice sound system and yeah I'm crazy. Mandy pooor thing hates it!
TraceOddity
WIth any Eno production you know there will be layers hidden between layers, and you really do need a decent system to hear everything. I'm even liking Strawberry wing a little more, although I'm afraid, sweet as it is, it's still my least favorite. (Sorry, Chris...I'm sure it's one of your favorites!) Glen
Thats what i did i first listened to the album in the car. I dont have a flash sound system or anything like that but just what came with it. But in any case i find the car the best place to listen to music better than at home or whatever, you can control the sounds and get the real depth out the music. Computer speakers, ipod headphones unless there really good tend to hide the bass etc and hidden sounds.
yamfox
My computer speakers are Boston Acoustics series, with added Pioneer sub. I think my headphones sound better, but it's much more of a social experience blasting it out so that the Sheriff (Who lives 4 houses away) can hear it and come over telling us we are causing a disturbance of the peace :laugh3:
nothingtoseehere
TracieMorgan, you have completely made me completely pissed off at the fact that the album's not even out in my country yet!!! Everyday I go to the record store and the staff are like, 'I dunno when the album's out....' And then I spontaneously combust.
clockpolitiks
Yea this album is really strange. It sounds different on every type of media player I listen to it on. I mean, every album sounds different if you listen to it in your car and then listen to it on huge speakers at home. This though, it sounds very different on home speakers than in my car/computer speakers.
blackchickintheback
Stupid me put my stereo in the back of my closet. :dozey: But I got these killer speakers that I can plug up to my computer. The only problem I have with them is that they make Chris sound like he's in the background. And it doesn't do Strawberry Swing any justice! Hmmm.
