June 21, 200818 yr First, I have to emphasize that I'm a huge coldplay fan and Im not pointing any fingers here, but it was just brought to my attention while i was reading up on Liberty Leading the People painting that a japanese rock band used a similar title and cover to coldplay's new album back in 1999. whats interesting that there are similarities in both the title and the cover. Did Chris mention anything about inspirations that might have influenced their cover/ title choice ? Viva La Revolution - Dragon Ash 1999 (Japanese rock group ) Viva La Vida - Coldplay 2008 For more info, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberty_Leading_the_People again, Im a huge fan but i thought this was interesting coincidence to look at.
June 21, 200818 yr no offense, but about a million people have already pointed this out. So they used a similar cover and name, theyve admitted theyre nothing but idea thieves anyway;)
June 21, 200818 yr They mentioned in one interview the similarities between their cover/title and Dragon Ash. No biggie.
June 21, 200818 yr Author so sorry guys, did not realize that it was mentioned before although i looked. blackchickintheback , any idea how did they explain it in the interview ? thnx
June 21, 200818 yr Hmm. I can't remember which interview it was from, but the interviewer mentioned the similarities between their cover and Dragon Ash, and the band agreed. They said they liked the idea of revolutions and a "taking the bull by the horns" attitude towards life.
June 21, 200818 yr from memory, i think they said that the Dragon Ash cover is a parody of Delacroix's painting, hence the similarity in the pictures. I can't remember what they said about the titles though
June 21, 200818 yr Nothing strange, they both just used motives from the french revolution, that's all
