it seems like an analogy to some more personal things really. i dont think chris was really making any direct connection to historical events. i mean its about a random king who is now just an ordinary citizen in the most basic sense, and thats not a historical accuracy.

 

i think it seems to be more related to chris and the bands journey, they were on the top of the world, kings, and they realized being king isnt so great. i think thats really the gist of the song.

shhh chirs martin church is watching hahaha.... now seriously there's another thread about it, I think it might be about a dictator or a king, maybe about Napoleon but who knows? Guy said it was about a king who lost his kindgom
