Glasgow concert ticket recall?

Got an email from ticketmaster claiming that all the glasgow show tickets had to be recalled because they used the wrong ticket stock or something. Would hate to part with my ticket in case anything goes wrong or it isn't a legit email from ticketmaster. Any other scottish fan had this email?

I'd ring them up to make sure what the latest is. And whether in fact its true or not.

Yeah I've just had the email too. Gonna get in touch with ticketmaster to make sure it isn't a scam. Been onto my ticketmaster order history and there isn't any mention of it on there. Tried looking around for an email address or a phone number that isn't just an automated service, but can't find one. Let me know if you get any more confirmation. I aint parting with my tickets until I know it's legit.

I got an email too. Looking at the Ticketmaster site they now have the recall listed in the FAQ section under customer service. Seems really unprofessional that the wrong tickets have been sent out for both gigs.

Hope this helps!

Chaos for Coldplay fans as ticket blunder threatens to leave hundreds locked out of Scots gig

HUNDREDS of Coldplay fans will be locked out of their Scottish concerts after a massive ticket mix-up.

Ticketmaster have recalled a batch of 3200 briefs after they were printed on the wrong paper. The gaffe means anyone who bought the tickets from secondary sources, such as eBay, will be denied entry to the concert.

It is estimated that tickets originating from touts and fans who decided to sell them could number more than 800 for the two gigs on December 5 and 6.

Last night, Ticketmaster admitted only fans whose email addresses were registered at the time of sale would be issued with new tickets.

A spokesman said: "It is true that we have announced a recall of tickets, which should be no problem for most fans as there is a long time to go before the concert.

"If people decide to buy tickets from sources such as eBay, it is their own business, but it is something we do not recommend.

"People who buy from other sources lose the rights that other fans are covered by, given that their emails are not registered with us.

"They will therefore not be able to get the replacement tickets sent to them unless they contact the original purchaser and replace the tickets through them."

Despite the chaos, scores of tickets to the gig were selling on eBay yesterday, with some fetching £150 for tickets whose face value is £60.

Buyers had no way of knowing if the tickets will be void by the time of the concert. One disgruntled fan who emailed the Razz said: "Ticketmaster told me the gig will be empty, as most the tickets are bought from auction sites.

"Hundreds will be turned away. This is the biggest gig in Scotland, but only people with registered email addresses will know they have faulty tickets.

"Coldplay will be going nuts when they see the venue empty, as they will not allow anyone in with the tickets they botched up. This is a disgrace by Ticketmaster."

On the Ticketmaster website, a notice advises: "If you have received an email from Ticket master regarding a ticket recall for the Coldplay events at the SECC in Glasgow on December 5 and 6, we can confirm this email is legitimate and would ask you to follow instructions.

"Only customers affected by this issue have been contacted."

The news comes after it emerged that Ticketmaster also had £90,000 worth of tickets and passes for Live at: Loch Lomond and DT Tiesto's Manchester set go missing.

Can't believe I've joined this forum just to have a gripe about TicketMaster! :laugh3:

I also got the email about my tickets and, like others, my first thought was 'scam'.

I've been trying to contact them by phone to get some more details on this but they don't seem to do live interaction so I've had to resort to their online form. I've asked them to confirm that it is a genuine recall but it looks pretty certain that it is.

More worryingly, they've given a freepost address to return the tickets to. One of their policies states

8. We will not be responsible for any tickets that are lost or stolen.

So I'm none too happy with the idea of sending my tickets back to them and not using registered/recorded delivery. This is their mistake so are they going to pay for that guarantee? If they aren't and they 'claim' - not that I've lost faith in them ;) - not to have received them, will they still send the replacements?

Pretty annoyed about this. Spent £100 on a couple of tickets. Don't expect to have to deal with this kind of incompetence.

Blimey - eating humble pie or what?!?

Within ten minutes I got the following (as well as confirmation that this is a genuine recall)

Please do not send them by registered post, you will not be reimbursed.

The FREEPOST we have provided is relaiable,we have never had any post lost in transit addressed to this but naturally if they are lost in transit we would guarantee entry to the event.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Okay, so they are being a little naive to think that a Royal Mail freempost address is reliable... but I've now got it in writing that they'll guarantee entry in the event that the ticket doesn't reach them.

Phew. I'm calming down now.
