🌙 Coldplay: Moon Music 🎵 | Out October 4th | Discussion
Don't get me wrong, there were many fans that immediately loved Violet Hill (myself included), but I do remember some being unsure. It was quite different to the sound from the previous 3 albums, certainly darker with more political undertones to it, and so it took a bit of time for certain fans to warm to it.

Glastonbury 2024
Actually, Major Minus might have been included in the ETIAW EP at that time (with Moving to Mars)

Glastonbury 2024
Can't say 100% for certain. However, they do have a track record of this. They played Glastonbury back in 2011, months before Mylo Xyloto came out, and played MX, Hurts Like Heaven, Major Minus, Charlie Brown and ETIAW (which was the only officially released song at the time). Would be nice for at least one new song premiering at Glasto.

🌙 Coldplay: Moon Music 🎵 | Out October 4th | Discussion
Similar to what the_escapist is saying, most of the first singles have been heavily criticised on the forum when they were initially released. They always seem to grow on the fanbase, especially when listened to in the context of the album. Seen that with Violet Hill, ETIAW, Magic etc. Even Viva la Vida was under significant fire when released as a pre-order bonus ahead of the album being published (basically because people were wondering where Jonny went in that song! 🤣 especially after him being more prominent on X&Y)

The NEW 2024 Leaks Thread
All this debate about which versions of Lukas people have in their possession or have listened to, and I'm comforting myself with the AI generated vocals version like the peasant I am 😢🤣

All the best with that AI cover!

The NEW 2024 Leaks Thread
It is a tough call picking a top 3! I agree with Tomorrow, but as I’ve waited so long to hear a version of Famous Old Painters (Viva version) with vocals for years, that probably edges it. And I’m really loving Weirdo. Wish that it was included on Everyday Life, but I guess Champion of the World ticked off their underdog story song for the album. A bit like Famous Old Painters, I’ve waited ages for a version of Lukas with clear vocals. Loved the song since 2009. I’m sure a version exists, just not sure whether it’s part of the recently leaked songs.

The 2024 leaks - Lyrics compilation
I have to admit, I did see the funny side of that 😅

Army of One
Probably my favourite from the album! Has a classic Coldplay sentiment even though the production is more pop.

The AHFOD Leak Thread (LEAK CONFIRMED - NO PM REQUESTS OR LINKS!)

#AOAL - Please post your review
The song has definitely grown on me. Wasn't sure about it at first but man, it's incredibly catchy! Plus Coldplay's first singles tend to be the one of the more mainstream/accessible songs on the album and don't really reflect the overall album. Those saying it's not artistically deep enough, as someone who's followed Coldplay from early on, songs like Clocks, The Scientist and Yellow are some of my favourite tracks but are based on repetitive riffs and lyrics that aren't exactly the most poetic around. Just because their older songs were more somber, doesn't mean that uplifting, jubilant songs have any less artistic merit.

The Official 2014 World Cup in BRA71L thread!
Just heard them play an instrumental of Rainy Day on the itv coverage of the Chile v Australia game. Pleasantly surprised, relatively obscure song to use. Obviously known to us but not exactly a Viva la Vida, Clocks etc

Now to go and catch up on the 40 or so pages I've missed on the leaks thread haha

Is there actually a snippet going about or is this just wilds rumours?!

A Sky Full Of Stars!! (Out now - See first post)
Coldplay having a happy, pop song doesn't bother me at all. How many other bands or artists out there have a back catalogue that remotely comes close to Coldplay's wide spectrum of emotions, from quiet, meaningful songs like See You Soon or Oceans on one end of the scale to the unashamedly joyful and happy songs like Every Teardrop is a Waterfall and A Sky Full of Stars at the other?

Coldplay to headline Radio 1's Big Weekend (24 May, 2014)
The annoying thing is I was going to enter for tickets as this is just down the road from me but wasn't really into any of the artists. If I'd have known Coldplay were headlining though, that would've been a different (ghost) story...

Aaahhh, I was going to enter for tickets as this is just down the road from me but wasn't really into any of the artists. If only I'd have known Coldplay were headlining though!

Coldplay will release track "Atlas" from "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack on 6/8 Sept
Can someone please pm me the link! The preview sounds epic! p.s. I've pre-ordered Atlas on iTunes so I'll definitely be buying a legal version. Just really want to hear it early!

PoC video
Well, after watching the video, it doesn't really feel like a Coldplay video but for what it's worth, I still enjoyed it!

Dissappointment with MX
I still think that the melodies on MX are some of coldplay's strongest but I would agree that the lyrics aren't their best effort on certain songs. I imagine that the production is another significant factor to some people's disappointment. I would be curious to hear the album stripped down a bit, not necessarily acoustic, but rather the same melodies, say, over AROBTTH/X&Y style instumentation. Detractors of MX may have had a completely different view of the album. Either way, HLH, CB and MM are up there with some of my favourite Coldplay songs so I'm not complaining!

Charlie Brown Music Videos (Live & Studio - both videos in first post)
Well, I'm glad they went with the narrative detailed in the song, I think any other type of video would have felt a bit disjointed with the lyrics but I agree it could have been delivered slightly better. Although I really don't get the "OMG kissing and raving in a coldplay video! :shocked2: They've sold out!" response. The song is about two young people falling in love, so, you know, young folk do actually kiss. And I always took the lyrics "downtown where the losts boys meet" to be a sort of underground rave/ gathering anyway. Can't blame them for following the source material :D

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
I was more suggesting the Xylobands making an appearance at the Olympic opening ceremony in some form or another rather than Coldplay. With so many North American tour dates, it might be tough for them to perform but I wouldn't put it past them. Either way, I'm sure the guy's investment in the glowband company is safe, I can really see them taking off.

Small Reminders/Updates & The Coldplay Messenger (feat. Roadie #42!)
Totally agree with Roadie 42. They took a huge gamble; risking yet more hate but in the end stealing the show IMO. Hopefully that will silence a few critics who were quick to brand them "sell outs" as R.42 says. It was great promotion for Charlie Brown, deservedly so, it's a fantastic song and amazing live. Plus, the Xylobands (I really hope that name catches on!) are causing quite a stir. I'm sure many big name acts will follow Coldplay's lead and use them at concerts. (Olympic opening ceremony perhaps?)

Moment you realized you love Coldplay?
I remember hearing a few songs from Parachutes on the radio when it was released and quite liking them but I had only just left primary school then and still wasn't really into music enough to go out and buy the cd. For me, the moment I realised I loved Coldplay happened just after I was watching the BBC coverage of The 2002 Open Golf Championship. When they were showing the scoreboard, there was this amazing "other world-ly" piano riff playing in the background. I immediately sat down at my piano and learned the riff (without a doubt, I wouldn't still be playing piano to this day without Coldplay) but I had no idea it was them. It took me ages to find out that it was Clocks but once I did, I managed to collect enough pocket money to buy A Rush of Blood to the Head. It was the first cd I had ever bought. (Parachutes followed swiftly!) After that I was hooked!
