Batman Star Christian Bale Arrested for 'Assault'

Batman star Christian Bale has been arrested by detectives investigating claims he assaulted two family members.

 

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 34-year-old man had been arrested in connection with an allegation of assault, and remained in custody.

 

Mr Bale is alleged to have lashed out at his mother and sister in his suite at London's Dorchester Hotel on Sunday.

 

The Welsh-born actor stars in the title role in the latest Batman film, The Dark Knight.

 

"A 34-year-old man attended a police station in central London by appointment and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault - he currently remains in custody," a police spokesman said.

 

The Hollywood star attended the European premiere of The Dark Knight last night in London's Leicester Square.

 

He had been due to meet radio journalists at the Dorchester to promote the film on Tuesday afternoon.

 

It has been reported that the assault allegation was originally filed at a police station in Hampshire.

 

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed it had received an allegation from another force.

 

Mr Bale rose to fame as the child star of Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun.

He went on to play Patrick Bateman in American Psycho, and had leading roles in Shaft and Captain Corelli's Mandolin.

 

In 2005, he took on the role of the Caped Crusader in Batman Begins and reprised the role in The Dark Knight.

He has a pretty hard time dealing with fame, not that it's an excuse, but since this film could not get any bigger maybe he's feeling the pressure.

'Dark Knight' Christian Bale releases statement about assault charges

 

Attorneys representing "The Dark Knight" star Christian Bale have released a statement on their client's arrest Tuesday morning for assault charges.

 

"Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister.

 

"Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police.

 

"At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale."

 

So unless mum and sis are talking, we may never know what this was all about.

 

Bale is a notoriously private actor, and I'm betting this mystery will never be fully solved.

 

Families are complicated, sibling relationships are tricky and childhood stuff never really goes away. Just ask Bruce Wayne.

His mom and sis were such gold-diggers. Just because he EARNS good money, they're entitled to it? I heard that bitch of a mom of his was on a monthly payment plan. NEVER ENOUGH! My mom would be lucky to make it out of that room alive if she asked me for money after the crap she put me through. Everyone seems to think they're in a position to judge when 1. they don't know the facts and 2. its nobody's business. This man is an artist and should be respected for that.
