Bucket For A Crown

Did Bucket For A Crown become Viva La Vida?

Hmmm..I think not. The part "I don't wanna be a captain of a sinking ship" progressed into a line in Violet Hill, but that's about it. Chris only said at the time that he wrote the song a day before the live performance, so it wasn't (I would think) ever really considered to be on the album.

Although I would be sooo happy if it ever came out as a b-side studio version!!:D:shocked2:

Hope it's coming out as a studio version/ B-side sometimes, because it had a great Leonard Cohen feel to it.

Chris takes a lot of "old" lyrics into new songs.

I remember in an interview a while ago, a caller asked him if he could give him a good name for a band,

and Chris said , "How about Carnival of Idiots"?

Then later, we find out it's in Violet Hill as well.

I haven't heard Bucket For A Crown but it sounds from the title to be a similar theme to Viva La Vida and I knew they were both written a long time ago.

I find it hard to believe that they held onto Viva La Vida for over a year before it was released. If I had written a song as great as that I would want the whole world to hear it immediately.

I wonder which was the song Chris Martin said was their best ever in an interview over a year ago. I'd guess it was either Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends.

Maybe that's why the album has this title.:wink3:

I think he meant '42' , it's one of the best new songs, won't be a single, isn't that commercial and it's constructed into 3 separate parts.

I think it's either 42 or Viva La Vida.

I believe 42 was the one "everyone should hear before they die.". Due to it's 'unworldly' theme

Lyrically, Bucket For A Crown shares a similar theme with Viva La Vida, but connecting the two musically would be a huge stretch. BFaC is decidedly in a minor key and occasionally lops a beat off of the end of a measure. Viva La Vida is in steady 4/4 and uses a totally different chord sequence. Not to mention that the melodies sound nothing alike.

But I feel like Chris might have used BFaC's lyrical theme to develop Viva La Vida. You never know.
