I honstly don't see what was so ****ish about an objective response like "wrong." For someone who debates a lot...

If I told you 2+2=5, that the capital of china was france, or something else you strongly believe to be untrue (hopefully), you would naturally call me wrong. In this case MC believed you to be wrong, expressed his natural opinion in a civilized manner, explained his objection, and awaited your rebuttal. I don't really see the problem, unless you're just sick of being told that you're "wrong".

It's the way he did it.

The arrogance of starting with a one word dismissive sentence "Wrong.", it's said in a smug "Haha, you fooool" kind of tone.

He could have worded it far better than the way he did, if he really didn't want to antagonise anyone

On the contrary, there's always a reason.......................

Well yes, in the sense that you change your mind constantly about your attitude and on that occasion fell on the "Pedantic about grammar" option

Congratulations...................................................

Thanks a lot, you asked the question, I answered

Ewe must be joking...........................

No,not at all..i have been putting up with them for many years.

Yes, I have it on good authority he loves mass debating.......................

No they're definitely all true, because he told me, and he's right about absolutely everything, as everyone knows...............................

Or perhaps he simply suffers from Tourette's, the poor boy.....................

Moo moo mooooo! :P

Seriously, leave them be. They don't need any outside help.

I reckon Nathan might be in need of some, though...........................

Yeah you're right, swearing on occasion must mean I have a serious mental disorder

wait, that's abuse right?

I reckon Nathan might be in need of some, though...........................

Ah yes, you're right, I'm totally "losing" this "debate".

We need a Judge for that!

It's the way he did it.

I didn't know you could imprint tone on mere text. Was his voice loud? Did he cackle? Maybe not, as I think we have a smiley for that. Are you sure it wasn't a subdued, nervous "wr-wrong?!"? You must admit protesting an unexpressed tone is pretty lame. If he wanted to convey "Haha, you fooool", he would've typed just that. But in this case, only the dismissal is clear.

Now, I would understand your annoyance if he had simply left it at that, and said nothing more. But he did continue to explain why. It's almost academic. He began with his thesis "you are wrong" and then cited why. In any case, almost everyone of your posts has indicated a difference in opinion. No problem with that.

Well I can't pull the wool over your eyes, can I, you scamp.....................

Yeah you're right, swearing on occasion

I think you mean often.

must mean I have a serious mental disorder

Merely exploring the possibility. I truly hope that isn't the case......................

Oh now I'm getting slagged off,how nice..:dozey:

Moo moo mooooo! :P

Lol. Appreciated, but I'm alone and bored on a sunday night, and a petty little argument may be just the medicine.

Are you seriously saying, you can't detect tone in a passage of text unless a smiley is used? I weep for the novels of the future if that is the case. There is a definite arrogance in using "Wrong." as a one word sentence, you do not open a reply like that and not expect people to get annoyed.

I'll be honest, I can't even remember what I was apparently "wrong" about, that's because I genuinely don't care. If memory serves me though, I wasn't wrong.

No need to act all sheepish, now.................................

I think you mean often.

Nope, I meant on occasion.

Then you clearly have a really bad idea of what Tourette's Syndrome actually is if you thought it a possibility that I could be a sufferer

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm just having a bit of fun.......................

I was genuinely going to post this exact thing after Space Cadet's post earlier in the page

minus the cliché extended ellipses and rolling smilie of course

If memory serves me though, I wasn't wrong.

No, because as you've so eloquently pointed out on several occasions, you never are..................................

You're learning.

PS. IRONY.

Nope, I meant on occasion.

Then it appears you might also be in denial.........................

I have no idea, as I haven't actually come across many sufferers, thankfully.

Of course, there was that one guy on Big Brother.........................

Are you seriously saying, you can't detect tone in a passage of text unless a smiley is used?

No, but it's awfully silly to deduce something so animated as what you described, from a simple "wrong."

It's arrogant to call somebody incorrect? I don't see the sense in that. Certainty, confidence, bluntness perhaps. In that MC is sure that you are wrong. But even teachers tell their students they're "wrong" or incorrect. It's not rude by itself, especially when a sufficient reason is given. We all say it in some form when we disagree.

I don't really know or care either.

But unfortunately you missed your chance, presumably because you were too busy bucket-mouthing.........................

Saying "Wrong." as a one word sentence is arrogant.

Teachers will tell a student they are wrong, yes you're right, but they wont look at the work and exclaim "Wrong." That has never happened to me and I am willing to bet, not to you either

By the way, your writing style...you are either trying to seem intelligent or are very full of yourself
