iPsy
A US man chose to be sent to jail rather than handing over $1.57 for a drink he stole, according to police. The 27-year-old, from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, was confronted by officers who responded to the report of a theft at a local outlet. After the suspect had taken a cup from the counter and filled it with a fizzy drink, employees told him to pay $1.57 or leave - but he decided to do neither. One police officer told the man, who appeared to be drunk, that he would face jail if he refused to pay - but he chose to be locked up. The man was found to have over $70 in his possession after being handcuffed and searched by police. He was later issued an ordinance citation for retail theft. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/odd/a139547/man-chose-jail-over-fizzy-drink-payment.html :confused:
