Asking to my father... about familiy's past... that his grandfather (by father side) changed the order of his surnames taking his mother's first and his father's second (this is quite unusual)

So basicly... my "real oficial" first surname should be "Coley" and not "Díaz" the one I have right now.

Also that, his grandmother (by mother side) and the grandmother of my mom (by mother side) were cousins!

Strange huh? :o and random. :P Any other strange family stories?

weeird, i mean i've hurd of keeping your mothers surname after your fathers in some countries.

but changing it completely? nope.. never hurd of it.

haha, my family a long time ago from my dads side, reserched our ancestors..

& we found out we come from a line of italian nobles, i thought it was pretty cool.

My parents' surnames are the most typical ones for my area, so I guess in the faaaaaaaaaaar past their families were actually one family...:wacky:

indeed :cheesy:

I wish I knew about my ancestry. My dad does, but I never really asked him about it. I know I have family from Italy, but I do not know their name. I don't know where "Smoot" comes from. Weird.

Well my great grandfather also changed his last name because he thought it was boring and too unoriginal.

Bono and the Edge were at my grandfather's cousin's son's wedding...and I have pictures of it haha

  • 1 year later...

My mom and dad had the same surnames, but they're not relatives. it's strange, because i remember in early years i had to do a family tree in school, and everybody was :" wow, it's cool, they aren't relatives?"

I just discovered that it's only four weeks before my mid-semesters, and that houses get leased out really quickly around here!
