I managed to get most of them uploaded, so here's my epic post. I ended up just experimenting again, and they were all made within a couple of hours so they're probably not very good.

After weeeeeeeeeeeeeks I finally did something with textures to try something new. I probably stick with it for a time, even if I'm not very happy how all my stuff turns out at the moment.

@BAM_87: Try making some avatars without text. Sometimes the text doesn't always look well with the avatar. Again, not putting you down, it's just another tip.

i agree. or maybe try different fonts? i think that quite often if something has text on it and the font doesn't "fit" with the picture then it doesn't look as good as it could.

that being said, i think everyone on here makes great avis and siggys! :)

Okay. Here's a coloring tutorial for all of you, as requested by BAM_87. I'll write more tutorials later on.

Program:

Adobe Photoshop CS3

Steps:

Step 1.

Re-size your image. I always use 100 x 100.

Step 2.

Crop your image. (Position your image that looks interesting, not just placed on).

Step 3.

Duplicate your base and sharpen it. Lower the opacity to 65 - 70%

Step 4.

Create a colored balance layer and keep it as Normal at 12%

 

Settings:

 

Midtones:

+28 -16 +4

 

Step 5.

Duplicate your base and drag it to the top of all layers. Set to overlay at 10%

Step 6.

Duplicate your base again, drag to the top of all layers and set to Soft Light at 51%

Step 7.

Create another color balance layers and keep it as Normal at 100%

 

Settings:

 

Midtones:

+9 -27 -26

 

Step 8.

Create a new layer and fill with this color #002157. Set to Exclusion at 50%

Step 9.

Create another new layer and fill with this color #2c2404. Set to Multiply at 9%

(Now go to Image > Apply Image > Blending: Soft Light).

 

Step 10.

Create a Hue/Saturation layer and keep as Normal at 100%

 

Settings:

Master

Saturation:

+5

 

Step 11.

Create a color balance layer and set to Soft Light at 49%

 

Settings:

 

Midtones:

+26 +23 +5

 

DONE.

 

Remember:

Some layers may need to be changed.

As in some may need to be deleted, more need to be added or opacity and blending needs to be changed.

And about the iColdplay stuff: I'm not so familar with this iTunes story and all the colours they use and I simply was too lazy to google examples. So I just picked the colours of their new Viva jackets to make it look more Coldplay-ish and less iTunes-ish (?). If you still have the *.psd's you could simple change the background colours and we would have a set. :lol: (I know, the Guy one would be tricky, because the photo was that ways, but I did cut Will and Jonny out as well and it doesn't take sooooooo long (if you don't pay attention on quality).)
