ummmm... yea i understand that not everyone likes them, but:

1. pretty much everytime you post, you say something bad about them...

2. this site is for coldplay fans, not people who don't even like them

3. Coldplay has acheived success b/c they're GOOD, (duh) or else they wouldn't have acheived it

4. We fans like them b/c we have different taste than you, so you don't have to be all curious about why we like their music and all that

5. i think that anyone who doesn't like coldplay is insane and needs to go get a doctor and have their head examined. lol :laugh3: Jk.

Of every post I've made probably 5% of them have actually mentioned Coldplay, so it's not every time I post I say something bad about them at all.

Just because music is popular doesn't make it good, Coldplay in my opinion have achived sucess because they've written songs that appeal to a wide audience

You said you didn't come on here to say anything imflammatory or talk bad about them, but that's pretty much all you've been doing? How is saying you don't understand their success and that their music is poor, NOT insulting?

It seems like you're going out of your way to insult them. All you had to say was 'Chris Martin should have the right to enjoy private time with his family', but you had to go off and tell everyone how bad you think they are. It's fine to have different tastes, but to keep putting them down is uncalled for.

And you didn't answer me before. Who do YOU listen to?

I'm entitled to hold an opinion about their music, which isn't insulting them it's how I feel, it may surprise you but many other people feel the same, we can discuss my musical tastes when you can accept that not everyone likes the band you hold so dear and be rational.

I'm a Coldplay fan. I've learned years ago to not be surprised that there's millions of people like you who hate them and they don't know exactly why. And AS a Coldplay fan I've learned to accept that. Many people in my family hate them and I get crap for it all the time, it doesn't bother me in the least. What DOES bother is when someone says they aren't here to insult them or say bad things about them and then say they don't understand why they're successful and that they make bad music. There's music that I do not like, but I don't go onto their sites and say 'I enjoy your musician as a person and I won't put them down. But they make horrible music and I don't understand why they're successful.'In MY opinion, they make the BEST music. I'm being extremely rational and I know there isn't a band that will ever exist who pleases 100% of the people.

Since you obviously know who MY favorite band is. Who is YOUR favorite band?

Wow, this thread's gone on for 134 posts! I'm impressed!:laugh3:

How about just recognizing that we all have failings as human beings, and some personality traits that make us imperfect; but the majority of our traits are good ones.;)

Well that definitely isn't true in the case of the paps. They're truly a disgrace to mankind.:dozey:

I know exactly why I don't like them, I find their music uninspiring, I find Jonny Bucklands guitar work absolutly sleep inducing, and to me personally I just don't connect with anything they've ever written.I don't have a favorite band, if you would like a list of bands/artists who's music I love and who I have a great deal of respect for then let me know.

I let you know twice already.

So there's absolutely NO Coldplay music at ALL that you like?

Ahhhhh, so you like a whole different STYLE of music.

I really like 99% of the bands you mentioned. Just listened to Zep's 'When the Levee Breaks'. Jack White IS an amazing guitarist. I like most of the Pumpkins. Love the Metallica black album. Stadium Arcadium was pretty good!

Mine in a somewhat particular order: Coldplay, Radiohead, Johnny Cash, Elbow, Doves, Beatles, Beck, Stone Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Blur, Flaming Lips, and Whitest Boy Alive.

And are you sure you didn't like Violet Hill?

Aren't most of those on the hard/heavy side?

The only song by any of those I could say I actually love is "Love Will Tear Us Apart" by Joy Division, which is an absolute classic.

There are one or two bands there I don't really know too much about.

If prefer light/soft/alternative rock (however you want to label it) which is why my favourite bands are Coldplay, Travis and Keane.

I'm sure all the bands you've mentioned above are all great for one reason or another, but generally their overall sound does nothing for me whatsoever.;)

She seems to be mostly into a completely different style of music, harder guitar driven rock. Which isn't any wonder that she doesn't like Coldplay. It doesn't necessary mean Coldplay makes bad music, it just means they don't make face melting guitar driven power ballads. It's not bad, it's just a different style. It's sort of like someone who loves horror movies and someone who loves romantic movies. The person who loves horror movies isn't going to be interested in the romantic movies one bit! It doesn't mean the romantic movies are bad, it's just not their cup of tea.

Although, I don't like rap at ALL, but I do really like Snoop and Method Man. I can't stand country, but I love me some Johnny Cash!

I have a great deal of respect for Radiohead musically I think they write some really interesting stuff but not all of their music is for me, Johnny Cash is another person who I like some of his stuff but have a huge amount of respect for.

I would say out of every Coldplay song I've heard Violet Hill is the one I like the most but I just really feel like I can't connect with their work at all.

NIN are great and Ian Brown/Stone Roses is a legend too.I completly agree with you about Jack White:), the Pumpkins have written some of the most touching lyrics I've ever heard in my opinion.

I'm a huge fan of John Frusciantes solo work away from RHCP, alot of people don't seem to connect with his solo work,I'm learning this song at the moment:

I couldn't find a youtube link for the studio version but this live version really good too.

Some of Radiohead's earlier stuff isn't as good as their later stuff in my opinion. My favorite is In Rainbows, because the beats and the melody literally move me. I got Ian Brown's Solarized a while back, pretty good!

I totally understand the bit not connecting with Coldplay, as I have the same with U2 but I just think even if I may not particular like them nor can connect with them they still make in peoples mind good music as you just can't argue with the millons of record sales as this would mean you think that all those millons of people just don't have any taste.

I for example always liked coldplay more or less but they really really did it for me when I saw them live as the energy is just amazing and mindblowing at least this is what I felt.

I also prefer to discuss or talk about their music then to read or discuss the latest on Gwenth or any other private stuff which in mind sometimes is just to much here.

I can't understand NOT connecting w/ Coldplay because for me from the moment I heard them, I was hooked. I did have trouble connecting with U2 though. I tried to like them years ago but it wasn't working. But now I love them. I guess my musical taste has devloped.

Well, it's very easy to understand a. it's personal taste and b. it's also just timing - sometimes at certain times songs hit you more then if it would be played 10 min. later.

P.

Yeah. Timing was a big thing for me. I also suposse that how we are feeling is a big part. My emotion and the timing was the reason that I love Coldplay so much.
