AMERICAN EAGLE FTW... i like AE they're cheaper and it's pretty much the same stuff... plus, in their stores you can see with no difficulty and you won't be swept away by all the cologne :P

I worked for Abercrombie for almost a year as an Assistant Manager and I recently just quit. Their hiring practices are messed up. My Store Manager would literally look at me and say "I only want to hire pretty people, no ugly people." I have stories galore about this place and how truly messed up they are.

I hear a lot of stories like that...picking out the "pretty" customers and asking if they want to work. That sucks balls.

I'm curious to hear your stories...

but come on....I just checked their website and their clothes are SO good...:wideeyed:

but I have never been to a store...

^ they do have nice clothes... :disappointed:

A&F+ Hollister are the two stores in the mall that make me more and more claustrophobic every time I shop in there and talk about the creepy greeter people "Heyyy what's up  " I swear those are always so awkward :uhoh:...

I also don't understand why do both stores sell almost exact same clothes but for whatever reason because of the label A&F is way more expensive. What is it like a way of showing you're rich or something?

Everyone hook-ups together and then it gets around. I was never part of their bullshit its one of the reasons I left. People were saying things about me that were completely untrue. These 16 year olds would tell the store manager that I would sit in the back of the store and do nothing and she believed them over me and it was really frustrating to know you are telling the truth and knowing no one believes you. We were pushed every single day to find people who were "brand positive" which means not ugly. I had to go to colleges and walk up to people who I believe to be "brand positive" and ask them they if they were interested in working for the company. It was awful.

woah, 90210 right there.

^ That's really shitty :\

Hollister is aimed at high schoolers and Abercrombie is aimed at college students. Then there is Ruehl is for post-college people. By the way the quality of the clothes sucks. Never buy anything full price because it always ends up going on sale.

It's awful. I'm glad I work at a place with a great variety of people who are for the most part nice.

ETA: And yes, the quality is shit. Friends would buy their $40 tshirts and get holes in them after a couple of washes. Fabric is so frickin' thin and poor.

Hahaha yeah that's what the sales associates are called: models. Oh, and the people who sensor the clothes in the back are called impact. I remember one time one of our "models" was a no show so I had an impact member come out front to help and my District Manager told me she wasn't brand positive so I shouldn't do that. I was like "well unless you want us to get boasted, she is staying out here."

 that's really horrible... all of it from your story...I'm sorry you had to work there :(

Me and my friend were waiting in line cause she was paying for her clothes, and I said " I would never wanna work in here!" and the guy that worked there heard that so he came up to us offered my friend to apply there and gave me sorta a dirty look

.....wait maybe he just thought I wasn't "brand positive" :inquisitive:

 hahaha what a douche

^ that's horrible !!!

 yeahh well I guess it is lol...

I got a sweater from there once and the smell of their perfume didn't wear of for 2 months lol

No, he probably just did it to be a jerk. People get super butt hurt there if you make fun of working there.

Go back and kick his ass. :P

Douche.

Once my dad and I were in a mall in Atlanta, and we passed by an Abercrombie & Fitch with a male model standing shirtless out front. He was greeting customers as they walked in.

My dad threatened to take his shirt off, exposing his beer belly and grotesque flabby skin, but the model stopped him and offered to put his own shirt back on.

   oh jeez...

The worst is the cologne. I managed a kids store so we had to walk around and spray the clothes every 30 minutes and people would give me the side eye haha. The adult stores have built in sprayers that spray like every 15 minutes and you literally feel like you are going to die because the smell is so overwhelming.
