The beginning looks very, very much like Clocks!

Yes, it does! I heard that song a few days ago, and I went like WTF?!

and you know, COldplay should sue him and I'm sure they would win, because David Guetta was at their show in Paris last year... is that a coincidence?

his music is well-known all around the world :P

Aw maybe.... Actually I knew that, but didn't want ot believe it :P

Anyway I don't care :smug:

That does sound exactly like clocks. I've heard so many songs that sound like Clocks lately. Like, Kill by Jimmy Eat World sounds like Clocks as well.

I'll post up a video. Listen right in the beginning for the similarity, though if you listen throughout the song you can hear it too.

In the beginning it sounds not that alike.

But the refrain ....

I HATE DAVID GUETTA!!!! >=-(

  • 4 months later...

WTF guys, the darn song sounds awesome but since one of the portions of that song sounds like Clocks you should be hating the guy already?

Fuck that, geez.

I've been listening to this since I can't remember.

But I just noticed it now, thanks to you (?) :wtf:

Someone asked the Oracle about this song:

June 17, 2009 - submitted by Annabel, Hong Kong

Q. Hi Oracle,

In the song When Love Takes Over by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland, there is a piano part which sounds almost just like Clocks. Is that them copying Coldplay?

The Oracle replies:

Diego from Mexico also wanted to know whether permission had been sought for that melody line. The thing you have to remember with music is similarity does not mean copy. Granted the piano riff in the above mentioned song sounds almost identical but the point is, it isn't and therefore there was no breach of copyright.

You know I like the David Guetta song and I've never really thought of the similarity between that and clocks until now...

It's only because it's arpeggiated piano in 4/4 that it sounds so similar but yes, I do not doubt that Guetta probably got the idea from hearing Coldplay.
