If you really care about someone, it's best not to assume how they're feeling in a situation like this. It's bound to be a very confusing and mixed-up time, and in my own case my instinct was to close up and to show the world I could deal with it strongly, when I did actually need an opportunity to talk about my feelings. I would say, if you can, make yourself available for your mate.

Don't feel bad, man. It's been a massive drain because I've had so many people ask what went on. And I wanted to be able to say like "hey this is what happened story etc etc" but then if I say that on some sort of medium like this it sounds like I'm attention seeking. Which I'm not.

As it happens, the funeral was brilliant. A proper send off, to a popular man. There was three lines of men, colleagues, etc, standing at the back of the chapel. I was very happy with the turnout.
