Aw, that takes me back....

;)

Oh yeah. That red headed wonder boy. :stunned: The one who had two hits. "never gonna something..." and.... ".....something."

So was I. How old was I when i first got into the music i used to like. *does math* 9. Crazed over Boy Bands. I once kissed a picture of Aaron Carter's ALBUM. Not of him, I mean his face was on it... but still... pretty creepy. :uhoh: But I'm sure I was at least 11 then to make up for that. :P

Spiderman's Soundtrack, I was much younger and didn't know anything about music hahah

Are you being ironic??

I wasn't being ironic at all. Sam's Town just didn't do it for me. Perhaps I expected something more from them after Hot Fuss.

As for Viva La Vida, I'd have to say I'm completely an ex Coldplay fan now thanks to this album.

my tastes change all the time, well, at least every 4 or 5 years or so, and if I hadn't bought certain albums, then I wouldn't have the taste I have now.

The U2 Boy/October/War remastered Deluxe Edition. Very disappointing.

No issue really with the albums themselves, just that the remastered versions didn't seem very polished at all.

^^

Can you tell the difference between the originals and the remastered version.

i recently got the remastered version of Pearl Jam's Ten, well the so-called Redux version of the album. listening to it on your regular stereo you could never tell the difference. but i dont regret buying it because the album itself was excellent as was the MTV unplugged dvd.

^^

Not really, no. I could tell of a bigger difference between the remastered Joshua Tree than the remastered versions of Boy, October and War. Namely that JT's remastered seem to be much louder than the original, which was a blessing because the original recording seemed so bloody quiet! You get more with that remaster set than you do with the early remasters, so that one was definitely worth at least more than half of the price sticker.

I've got an original War album but remastered versions of Boy and October and I wish I had the War remastered because it doesn't seem loud enough to me! Got JT remastered as well although I don't have Unforgettable Fire remastered - just an original, that's if there is one available. Are you sure they're not an improvement?

i think on alot of those remastered editions. you won't be able to tell the difference on a simple stereo but if you put it up on a 5.1 channel system it might become more obvious. just a thought, im not 100% on it.

The Unforgettable Fire hasn't been remastered yet, as far as I know. It's the only album from the 80s that hasn't been except for Wide Awake In America (which is really just a live EP thingy.) and Rattle and Hum which isn't so much an album as it is a compilation of leftovers from The Joshua Tree and live tracks from performances on said tour across the country (USA). I am highly anticipating it, as it is my favourite U2 album.

As far as improvements go, I noticed a bit of one on the JT remaster, but little on the other three. I mean, yeah, they do sound slightly louder and a little more crisp, but imo, not worth the price tag. The bonus discs were kind of a rip off too. Especially the War one. It's filled with different versions of New Year's Day! Like we didn't hear the studio version enough on the radio. :snore:

And you probably will notice the improvements best if you have good headphones, or a good stereo system ... one thing is for certain, I'm not the only one who thought there was not much of an improvement between the remasters and originals. The price tag for the deluxe edition was ridiculous, even though yeah, you do get bonus discs each housed in little hardback books and a poster ... but at least the deluxe JT remaster came with a live DVD and the Under a Blood Sky remaster also has the option of coming with a DVD of Red Rocks!

I wish I hadn't bought the remastered set ... it's too much for not much quality.

I personally fail to acknowledge Rattle and Hum as a U2 "album" as well.

^^

yeah i'm with you on that. has anyone ever asked the band themselves whether they consider it as an album?
