'New' GM is born

Featured Replies

Yeah and the best part is they aren't reopening plants in Canada! They left us hanging!

All these turkeys have to do is build a car that people actually want. Look at what makes Toyota's successful and copy it. It's not rocket science. They need a CEO like Steve Jobs.

Also, they just got a boatload of free money from taxpayers. Instead of blowing it all, use it to hire the most talented engineers away from these Japanese auto makers. I'm sure they'd leave their companies for a fee. Money talks.

Many Americans a re pissed and won't buy any GM out of hate for the bailout. I will never buy a GM, I don't care if becomes the best car for the best price, I'll pay more If it comes to that and buy a Toyota or Honda.

EDIT: I always feel like I'm posting right after you Jay, like butting in front of you in line, lol.

I'm not much of a car person, but I feel like the new GM is set for failure again, unless they like completely change their cars. They're too big and burn too much fuel, and now that we're ina recession I think everybody wants to spend as little as possible on gas money, especially when the prices are that high, with GM you can't really do that. And plus they're kinda ugly compared to other cars...

Can I make a joke about how GM is the new British Leyland of the 1970s, and we all know how that turned out.

GM Europe, whoever owns it now are doing some decent cars at the moment

lol yeah I know what you mean dude I currently drive a used Mazda, but when I run that into the ground I'm gonna get a Toyota probably. But that's a while from now... I might change my mind.

The unions are still intact, therefore the fundamental problem with GM has been ignored.

And also making rubbish cars

they're not making rubbish cars... they're making what people want... EXCEPT they are not making really inexpensive ones, because of restrictions on safety, unions, restrictions on mileage and emissions, and no one is smart enough to see that people would be more willing to spend <10,000 on a new car than on a used one... instead they make them bigger and bigger and faster, etc instead of making them available for those people who can't afford the expensive brand new car........... well that is my opinion....... but it is still just one of the reasons....... i think the unions hurt them a lot....... their cars are not "rubbish" they are just too expensive..... every year i saw a new model for a car, it was always 1,000$ more than the previous version........

and then they do idiot stuff like every add-on is 700$... like to add MP3 capability for a stereo..... now that is just pure idiocy....... I spent 75$ on a stereo that connects to my MP3....... they could make it for less than that...... but I actually think it's a conspiracy to make lots of money for add-ons

Leo, it's how car companies increase their profits, by selling extras onto the car.
