:\

now i kind of understand where the vets are coming from...

Are you serious people? how VLV is #1 ? maybe its the most popular album,

but Parachutes is much better.

Parachutes is the best album IMO.

how is Viva even winning?!?! :inquisitive:

Good question.

IMO VLV is the best album. Previous albums may have had better songs and may have shown better eras of the band, but ignoring all other factors, as a together and flowing ALBUM, it is the best. It tells a story, needs to be listened to all at once, no weak song, and it starts and ends with symmetrical songs, sandwiching all it contans so that you can start it and then end it and walk away feeling completed. It's like a movie, whereas previous albums were collections of really good scenes that just didn't come together as amazingly.

I absolutely love A Rush Of Blood To The Head.

It really brought out some of the best songs Coldplay have ever written in my opinion.

Plus it has my favourite Coldplay song on it, Politik.

To me, an album has to be measured as a whole and for how it all fits together. Choosing an album based just on some of the songs just is choosing your favorite compilation. It'd be like choosing a song as your favorite just because you really really like one line.

Mm, and that's why X&Y is my favourite album. Not only does it have fantastic songs IMO, I love how there are two halves of the record, each with different tones and 'moods' per se - they gave lovely contrast to that particular album.
