HI EVERYONE! I'M BACK FROM MY TRIP

How are you all?

I haven't been on here for a while but the urge to take a peek was too strong!

I saw them in Herning, and from what I can remember, it was AWESOME!

I still can't believe that I was given a backstage pass...let me tell you the whole story. Are you sitting comfortably? Then I will begin.........

So I fly into Copenhagen and meet my brother in law at the airport on the Saturday, and we stayed overnight there. The next morning bright and early we get to the station for the 3.5 hour train ride to Herning. This place is in the middle of nowhere!! We find our hotel, which is right next to the station and is the biggest dump I have ever stayed in (more on that later). We decided to try and find the MCH arena straight away as we had to pick up tickets and had NO idea where to find them. It is supposed to be a short walk and we get completely lost. About 1 k from the venue, I look on the floor and there is one of the bright green confetti butterflies randomly lying on the floor! They must have done a test run, but I take this as a sign that all is going to be ok and start to get excited. Now the MCH area is HUGE there is a footie stadium, HUGE conference and events centre and we are walking around for ages trying to find out where to pick up pur tickets. Eventually we find the right place and are told to come back at 4pm. No dramas. We race back to the hotel and change into warm clothes as it looks like rain.....

Back at the venue at 4PM, we hang out in the lobby of the Herning Hotel and drink beer to keep warm (too much beer as it later turns out, lol ;)) Eventually after much tooing and frooing at 6PM I am beside myself when the lady in the ticket office hands me my ticket and a GUEST PASS! I mean I had hoped for this, but never in my wildest dreams did I really think I would get it. Attached is the note 'Dear Guest of Coldplay. We would like to invite you to our backstage friends and family hospitality area pre and post show......etx...A nearby security person will be able to direct you. Enjoy the show!'

OMFG!!!

So we walk to the side of the stage and are directed right around the back of the stage, past all the trucks and into this building where the band and everyone is. There is a gorgeous room, with a fridge stocked with booze and soft drinks. Unfortunately, not having eaten all day, now would have been a good time to stop drinking. So me and Guy, my BIL, are pinching ourselves saying, 'this is not real, this cannot be happening to us' when Will comes in the room in his trackies and sits down 5 feet from me and is chatting to his friends for a while. I then go for a wander and well lookie here, Chris Martin is playing table tennis! I didnt want to stare and be a total dork, but I also did want to say hello as I didnt know if I would ever get the chance again. So he looks up and smiles and says Hi and we have a little chat about things. Again, he is just the friendliest most polite person you could ever meet. I ask him how he's feeling as he hasn't been well, and he does smell like that vics vapur rub stuff you use when you're ill. He says he's feeling much better! We chat a bit more and then I leave him in peace. Kelly is hanging around and my brother in law challenges him to a game of table tennis and Kelly thrashes him. It was too funny! At one point Guy pops his head round the corner too, so the only one I didnt see was Jonny.

Eventually Jackie tells us the band are in 'concert mode' so we need to go out and take our seats. The concert was AWESOME, I have never been to an outside one before and the energy from the crowd was amazing. We just kind of wandered wherever we wanted and ended up standing right by the stage. It was unreal. I did cry all the way through the Scientist as I knew this was the last time I would see them for a few years...(probably fueled by too much vino and beer!) Lovers in Japan is still my absolute fave at the moment and Guy took a hilarious video of me squealing like a schoolgirl when the butterflies start. Dont think Ill be posting that one! :shocked2: I really wish I hadn't drunk quite so much.....when will I learn?

One kind of scary thing happened. One of the other guests backstage took a bit of a shine to my BIL and managed to track down our hotel and the reception gave her our room number and she was knocking on our door at 6AM. It freaked us both out majorly and we went ballistic at reception when we checked out. Not good at all.

So Im back home in Aus now and back to reality. I am incredibly grateful for my experience and don't think anything in my life from here on in could ever be better than that magical night in Herning!

Because I met his Dad in Melbourne and I got on very well with the family friend that was travelling with them, she is a sweetheart, and we have kept in touch ever since.
