The next radiohead single to be released is 2+2=5

Radiohead are to release a batch of demo versions and remixes on the forthcoming single by , Christian Vogel and Four Tet have remixed 'Myxomatosis' and 'Scatterbrain'. A demo version of 'There There' will be on the single as well as the first mix (at Ocean Way Studios) of 'I Will'. Ed Holdsworth's video of 'Sit down. stand up' will be released on the DVD

ah hell, looks like they've run out of new songs they recorded and are feeding us worthless remixes which are always going to be worthless even if remixed by four tet or christian vogel.

 

now that i think about it, i feel really ripped off by the HTTT b-sides. none of them are really any good. which is even more disappointing because of the fact that it's radiohead, a band whose b-sides are usually outstanding.

 

oh well.

The b-sides from the Go to Sleep Disc 2 are fantastic. Gagging Order is this really stripped back acoustic guitar piece, while Wicked Child has this dirty guitar riff and even a Jonny harmonica solo! it sounds like it could have 'almost' been a b-side to something from the Bends or OK Computer... well almost!

obviously they're not going to be album quality, so don't talk to me like i have no clue about the song selection process. but have you ever heard any of radiohead's earlier b-sides? they're brilliant!!! any one of their b-sides up through ok computer could have easily been an album track. hell, they have songs that they've never even released that are better than anything most other bands around will ever write. like i said earlier, radiohead are held to a different standard than other bands.

oh yeah, i agree. I actually burned two cds with rh bsides, and they're brilliant, almost like a brand new album. killer cars, banana co., yes i am, palo alto... They're great tracks!

I personally didn't like the there there bsides. They're kinda boring.

i have an early version of There There.....has Jonny on bass. The Drums is a more common beat...and slight variation on the chords. The Melody is also different. Maybe i can send it to someone to host somewhere....my own site has problems at the minute. Also got the video of them playing version

Criticizing B-sides is presumption bordering on ignorance. "[D]on't talke to me like i have no clue ..."? "[R]adiohead are (sic) held to a different standard"? Those are opinions about which, when posted, you should expect to get some questions. A band is distributing bonus material to fans in a much less formal manner than through a studio album implicitally requires you to be far, far, far more open minded. I'm sure if band felt that their B-sides should be met with the same level of criticism as the songs from their album we would never get B-sides again.

Nah, I think what Tom is saying is Radiohead have done such fab stuff in the past... and I agree. The b-sides to Street Spirit alone (Talk Show Host, Bishops Robes) and stuff like the Running From Demons EP are worth paying an album price for IMHO. The only HTTT b-sides I liked are the ones from Go To Sleep disc 2, and also the live version of fog on disc 1.

 

but Remixes for 2+2=5? mmm I prefer sumthing new, or at least give us some live tracks. but at least fourtet is bound to give an interesting remix.

Well, that was Tom's criticism, and there's nothing really definitive there except that he doesn't like it, a right which he and any fan reserves. If you paid money for something and don't like it, that's certainly worth airing some criticism. That said, expecting something to be a certain way just because it's Radiohead is a little strange, ESPECIALLY when we're talking about B-Sides. They're B-Sides for a reason. More to address Tom's point: Just because Radiohead's former B-Sides may have been album quality doesnt mean these B-Sides inherently stink because they're not. Implicitly, they're not album quality.
