The Beatles Challenge

^I don't deny that The Long and Winding Road is lovely... I guess it just gets a little maudlin for my taste. Maybe it's the strings?

And, I do have quite a few songs I don't love by them, but they are FAR outnumbered by the songs I do love. :nice:

thats funny you mention that because McCartney really disliked Phil Spectors producing of the album and didn't like his addition of horns/strings to the songs. I guess you think similarly to McCartney :P

^ maybe I do! and I think he was right on that case at least. The melody and lyrics to Long and Winding Road are lovely... it's all the extra stuff that gets in the way, I think.

I can think of bands that I personally like better than the Beatles, but I can't think of a band that I could argue is better than the Beatles. IMO, they are the most influential band of all time.

Pink Floyd

1. Songwriting way before their time

2. Musicianship and mutual feelings between band members until the break up(that will get back together for a full tour)

3. DSOTM

Led Zeppelin

1. they pretty much brought heavy rock into main stream

2. Robert Plants vocal range unprecedented perhaps only by freddie mercury

3. Jon Bonham(that's all)

5 songs? yellow submarine, revolution 9, she loves you, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, A Hard Day's Night

I Agree that The Beatles were important, it just seems other bands get forgotten about .

WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHO JOHN LENNON IS??

yea same question

I would also like to quote Pseudonym, then Fitz:

If you don't like The Beatles, you don't have a soul

That's taking it a little far but you get the point :uhoh:

People who don't know John Lennon or The Beatles are just o______________________o
