29 left (plus 3 or 4 rescue workers who are inside the mine), the 5th will be out in 10 minutes

yeah, they've been there for almost 70 days, they were found after 17 days.

I bet there will be one

Jimmy is free :)

they all look so good and healthy, especially on their sunglasses.

Yey for Jimmy!

Wahoo!

Jimmy is the one I've heard most about.

Didn't want to be a miner because he was scared of small spaces and the dark. Was supposed to be finishing in September, and his wife had a child not long before he got trapped.

yeah, wow you know a lot about him  he wants to go back to study again because he never finished high school. I'm sure he'll have the chance to do it now

Wasn't he already trapped down there when his wife gave birth to a daughter, I think? I think so - a 19-year-old becoming a father to a girl while trapped. And a connection was established so he could see pictures of her. Or something like that.

If everything continues to go well - fingers crossed - then this calls for celebration.

Aww, perhaps. I'm not aware of that. I hope he is well.

I know they had a banner underground spread over some rocks which read 'Strength to Jimmy!'

Will they get compensation, or just money from interviews and books etc?

I'm not sure, they should get some kind of compensation from the company they were working at, plus the government is analyzing giving them a monthly rent. They've been also receiving some donations, a millionaire chilean man gave 10000 dollars to each miner so they won't have to worry about money during some time and they can pay their bills, etc.

Nancy, it was another miner... I think his name is Ariel, he and his wife called the baby girl Esperanza (it means "hope")

ohh and Jimmy had a flag of his favorite football club

is it true that the families received donations? maybe that could help him.

the bolivian guy will be given lands to farm. :nice:

Universidad de Chile, a boring football club :P

So glad to hear about the various donations so the miners and their families can cope financially, because the company employing them had refused to pay them any wage as they did not carry out mining work. No work, no pay - so I worried about their financial situation.

EDIT: AT LEAST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE COMPANY ACTED IN THIS WAY: NO WORK, NO PAY. But I am not sure if this is still the case.

Yes, ESPERANZA. So good that he will soon be able to hold his new-born daughter. But he is still down there - or is he among the men who has come up?

I think he'll be the 32nd so he won't be out soon

Well I have heard of them, though know nothing about them. No matter how boring they are I'm sure he'd be desperate to see them play soon, compared to what he has been used to the last few months. Hopefully they'll sort him out with tickets.

That's really cool - he should be awarded a honorary membership.

As I said: The rescue of these men or rather bringing them up calls for a celebration. So I was away for 15 minutes buying 2 croissants and making coffee.

And on VH1, Denmark there is one hour of VH1 Superstar - today U2.

I am now listening to U2 songs with the events in Chile in mind.

I have heard: Where the streets have got no name (thinking of the galleries / shafts down there in the mine)

Stuck in a moment you can't get out of (thinking of these miners stuck in the mine that they could not get out of).

Then my absolute favourite U2 song: ONE.

Wonderful song - and also a symbol of REUNIFICATION. Written on the eve of the reunificiation of Germany. And now I think of it as a symbol of the reunification of these miner families in Chile.

The Saints are coming (originally written about the rescue the people trapped by the Katrina hurricane - wrong spelling, I know. Now these men are being helped up in the DAYLIGHt)

Who's gonna ride your wild horses (here thinking: If the miners had not got up safe etc., who should take care of their families financially)

BEAUTIFUL DAY - it sure is.

With or without you (the thoughts revolving around - will they make it or not - With or Without You)

MAGNIFICENT

Elevation (them being lifted up in the Daylight in a sort of Elevator - being freed from their captivity under ground)

Sweetest Thing (being reunited with family and friends)

Get on your boots (back to normal life - at least very soon)

Also played: Sunday, Bloody Sunday, BECAUSE OF YOU, I still haven't found what I am looking for

:vuvuzela:

Then back to tv2 NEWS LIVE.

I watched this on TV.

I feel that on a day like this:

WE ARE ALL CHILEANS.

:vuvuzela: :vuvuzela:

11 miners out, 22 left. :awesome:

Congratulations to Chile and its miners!

I feel that on a day like this:

THIS. :wacky:
