'Top Gun' set for sequel (including Tom Cruise)

'Maverick' actor said he will consider cameo in new film

Top Gun 2 is officially in the works 24 years after the 1986 original with director David Ellison, who made 2006's World War One drama Flyboys, behind the camera this time. Oscar-winning writer Christopher McQuarrie is currently working on a draft of the script, reports Nymag.com.

The studio behind the production, Paramount, have apparently also offered a role to original director Tony Scott, though there are no details as yet.

Tom Cruise is said to be open to making a cameo appearence as his orginal character Maverick, so long as the role is not too “obvious”.

This film made me want to be a fighter pilot when I grew up. :blank:

When will film makers realise that the 80s sucks!

I really like that movie, I'm hoping they won't make a crappy sequel :shifty:

*sniff* *sniff*

Is that cheese I smell?
