YES, I'M JOKING

What? :surprised: Where's all the Glenn Beck love? :anxious: :bigcry: :wreck:

The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been / are expensive and started long before Obama took office (actually at the beginning of Bush's presidency). OBAMA "inherited" these wars inclusive all the expenses involved. And the global economic crisis made things worse.

There was so much HOPE when Obama took office - BUT with the economic crisis, the expensive "inherited" wars and the very hostile Republican opposition from day one of his presidency, it is inevitable that Obama will disappoint - some call it fail.

Obama is president in a very difficult period, and I ask myself:

Has OBAMA been given any chance of success?

Whatever you think: VOTE ON TUESDAY !

Yes he inherited a big mess, but he has spent more money than any other president... trillions of dollars. Not to mention he's the most radical president, that really doesn't care about the people in the sense that most of the country didn't want healthcare reform the way he wanted to do it (filled w/ tons of junk). He refuses to work across the aisle, which is sheer ignorance on his part that's dividing the country even more.

He thinks that government is the solution to every problem, when in fact it's been government that's screwed up the country. I find it really interesting because in some sense Bush was fiscally a democrat because he just kept spending and Obama really is just following his lead.

With sucha big problem as this economic crisis, you'd expect the president to work with everyone but he hasn't.

Also he's trying to change the country around completely making it something that it is not by redistributing wealth which will destroy the country.

How did you arrive at this conclusion? Which newspapers are you reading? I'm speechless... which is a rare feat.

lol yeh me too.

This country has always been based off of capitalism, and he wants to make everyone equal financially. Ideally it's a good idea but it never works, as we can see w/ Russia. Why capitalism works and has made the country so successful is because it shows that if you put yourself out there, work hard, and do well you can be successful and make a lot of money. So essentially it's an incentive system. The incentive to doing well is making money.

Now if you start taking this money away from people and redistribute it people aren't going to want to work as hard, be innovative and will most likely move away to another country.

So yes people constantly talk about how the rich people are bad in the country and they make too much money, which in some sense is true... but at the same time it is the rich people that have made all these innovations and large companies which has created so many jobs and boosted the economy.

So Obama is trying to change the face of the country to something we've never seen, and wants the govenment to take control of everything

do you know that in the US 20% of the population controls 80% of the wealth, that is absolutely disgusting, I don't know how you can justify that!

oh god... The Young Turks... I can't stand that guy

how about you forget the guy, and focus on the issue?

and focus on the issue?

Well...

I think he did attempt to justify it.

I did just focus on the issue if you took the time to read my post above

I did just focus on the issue if you took the time to read my post above

I did read your post, and I don't think that is a good argument at all. Do you honestly think it is good that the top 20% controls 80% of the wealth, that was my question?

all that does is that it leaves the bottom 80% unable to fully participate in the economy, before the Great Depression in the 1920's the rich were very rich and the poor were very poor, that is what led to the Depression, and I don't think there is any way you can justify that.

I did read your post, and I don't think that is a good argument at all.

I don't understand, you read his post about how people complain that the rich have too much wealth and control too much of it, and you read and (presumably) understood that his point is that this fraction of people have led to large economic boosts and development, and then you ignored this point and decided to focus on an exhausted statistic?

I don't think they should have full control, and that is a lot of money to control.

What I'm trying to say is if you take away most of the rich peoples money they are not going to want to stay in this country. They are not going to want to make innovations, because honestly... if I made a product that made millions why on earth would I want to stay in a country that, in your view, my profits from my hard work were given to people that were not as hardworking?

So many great innovations have come from this country because people know that if they work hard they'll get rewarded with money. Companies like Microsoft, Ford, Walmart, Verizon/AT&T, and so many other companies. They have created so many jobs.

I have nothing against rich people, and I know there are rich people like Bill Gates who have worked very hard for their money, I understand that.

But I have a hypothetical question I want to ask you

The government needs taxes in order to pay for a lot things; education, healthcare, roads, schools, clean water, hospitals, wars, etc…

Even though nobody likes to pay their taxes we all have too because we want all these good things in our country.

So my question is, if the governments needs money to solve these issues and to make our country our a better place, should they get this money from a single mother of three who works three jobs just to feed her kids or should they get this money from someone like Bill Gates.

I am not saying we should take all the money of rich people, but it makes sense to tax someone like Bill Gates more than the poor single mother.

I just think the amount of taxes you pay should be in accordance with the amount of money you make; it doesn’t make sense to tax someone who makes $20,000 a year the same as someone who makes $200,000 a year.

This country has always been based off of capitalism, and he wants to make everyone equal financially. Ideally it's a good idea but it never works, as we can see w/ Russia. That's a fine idea except for the greed part. Ah, yes. The American Dream. Let's vote against our economic interest because maybe one day we can make a lot of money...

And...Are we talking about the same Obama that bailed out Wall Street?

The other 80% isn't living-on-the-streets-in-a-carboard-box poor, either. Just throwing that out there. In most modern societies the middle class is one of the largest.

Of course, that little top part of the social economical pyramid is going to have that much money to make up the 80%, the people in that part are your Oprahs and Bill Gates.

I have nothing against rich people, and I know there are rich people like Bill Gates who have worked very hard for their money, I understand that.

I understand what you're saying but they already do pay a lot a lot more taxes, not to mention a lot of the rich people give out a lot of millions to charity like Gates and Oprah.

Yes they do make a lot of money and it would help w/ the debt, but it is the fiscially liberal spending by both Obama and Bush that has gotten us into trouble.

I had a big problem with that... Wall Street caused a lot of problems, so essentially they should fail for their mistakes. If I had a job where I cheated out so many people and or screwed up big time I would be fired on the spot... not given a reward for my bad behavior

I understand what you're saying but they already do pay a lot a lot more taxes

.

I never realised how many politically conservative there was on here! Still makes a change from hard line lefties
