Chris & religion

Featured Replies

I believe Chris believed in God (i.e. "A Message", "Fix You"), but doesn't, erm, portray it in the best way. His lyrics are too close to a love song about God to make me believe so.

Correction: believes, not believed.

If I am not wrong, then people like Chris Martin are called "agnostics".It's likeeee.....you believe in God, but not the concrete one:). Personally I am so, too.(It's not influenced by Coldplay, you know)

Agnosticism is the belief that humans have no concrete way of knowing whether or not a deity exists. Realistically, one cannot be purely agnostic, but rather an agnostic atheist (I don't believe in a god, but there's a possibility of one existing), or an agnostic theist (I do believe in a god, but I acknowledge the possibility of the nonexistence of one). Hope this clears things up a bit ;)

I'm surprised no one's taken up on some of the lyrics on Viva La Vida. Pillars of salt, St Peter, head on a silver plate, Jerusalem bells. Lyrics of a far greater intelligence and knowledge than 99.9% of songs released in recent eras.

And of course as mentioned earlier A Message, with a line referring to the hymn My Song Is Love Unkown so Chris Martin obviously knows quite a bit about religion. Whether he practises it I don't know but he at least shows a keeness to refer to religion in his song writing which is very refreshing because even if I don't practice it myself (although that doesn't mean to say I don't believe in God) it offers a lot of vibrant thought provoking material.

They could just be refrences how how religion is sort of a big deal when it comes to life I guess, for some or majority of people. Doesn't mean he belives it.

Who knows really, but isn't that a little too personal?

What does it have to do with anything about the band?

Once again Lory, you make a useless thread.

you're a refuge, somewhere i can go

and you know i would

and baby i, oh baby i

i wish

Verse 3:

come on now, don't you want to see

just what a difference you've made in me

i'll be waiting oh no matter what you say

cause i've been waiting for days and days and days

and oh, oh yes i would

if i only could

and you know i would

and baby i, oh baby i

oh, oh, oh

if the sky's gonna fall down let it fall on me

if you're gonna break down you can break on me

if the sky's gonna fall down let it fall on me

if it's gonna rain down it can rain on me

it can rain on me
