  • Lol I haven't been here in 5 years but I decided to pop my head back in for some nostalgia. Seems like this was my last post so here's an update... I finally saw Radiohead live in Manchester in 2017 a

yes. choosing one favourite Radiohead song is like choosing one favourite Beatles song... hard and pointless

though, if i'd have to choose one song, i'd choose Pyramid Song, i guess

hehe I realise and this is getting harder for me as well.....the more I get into them the more it would be hard to choose one favourite song...

must admit that it is There There since some weeks...

wow a favorite is almost impossible, i can never even seem to settle on a favorite album!

Just was also the first song I ever listened to, but I dont think its my favorite anymore. I guess I'd go with Exit Music

It's a different one evry hour. They are literally the only band that has songs that affect me in the same way. Where I can just go, "woah, that is the best thing ever written." The type of song that you play, realise how absolutely amazing it is, play it again, get halfway through it, say "I need to give my full attention to this", go back from the start, listen to the song all the way through and then play about ten times that day.

Some of these include:

Street Spirit

Pyramid Song

2+2=5

Talk Show Host

Lucky

Everything in Its Right Place

Prove Yourself (yes, Prove Yourself, and I still think it is brilliant)

Lurgee (yes, and Lurgee)

Fake Plastic Trees

High and Dry

Permanent Daylight

Videotape

Arpeggi

but my top 2 must always be:

Paranoid Android (I once listened to it at least 20 times in 5 hours.)

and

Idioteque (It just hit me one day, with a realisation that it was the most beautiful song ever written, and that realisation is one of the greatest things, iy makes you feel so good when you can just accpet and appreciate something so much, or it could just be me.)

Agree that its really hard to choose, but if I had to it would be Motion Picture Soundtrack. That's just gorgeous..

yes yes yes! tomorrow evening from 11 till 1 Radiohead concert from '95 on the radio!! two hours long! And i never heard that concert before..so im going to record it! :D can't wait :D

and my favourite song atm is 2+2=5

yeah ive got some gigs from 95 too, but not one from holland...

can you tell me which radio station is that, please?

started getting into Radiohead a few weeks ago.

their music is very progressive in some way and not easy to listen to.

i like it though.

only know a few songs by now. :(

i need to take some time (yeah, a large amount of time i suppose) to get to know their music.

my favourite so far is "Karma Police". yeah, i know i'm being way too mainstream with that pick.

good pick, Grace ;)

i'd suggest to listen to their albums by the timeline: from very first to the last. their albums must be widely available on the internet, so you'll find them easily

i can upload some b-sides if you want ;)

its strange alot of people say listen to them in order when introduced to radiohead heh,the only alum i never listened to fully is pablo honey....i might download it eventually

Nice choice grace, that was a favourite of mine when first listening to radiohead too :)

so... just to get the chronological order right...

1992 - Pablo Honey

1995 - The Bends

1997 - OK Computer

2000 - Kid A

2001 - Amnesiac

2001 - I Might Be Wrong

2003 - Hail To The Thief

so i'm gonna start listening to Pablo Honey. gotta take your advice since you're the number one Radiohead fan on this board, Nik. :D

mewwwp. b-sides would be nice ;) hehe. i just need to take time to listen to them. but thank god, i'll have holidays on friday. so... i'm gonna spend my whole holidays listening to several new cds and bands (including Radiohead now as well as Sigur Rós)

yes, that's right, though Pablo was released in 93 and I Might Be Wrong is a live album (well, EP, not album actually)

Sigur Ros are my favourite band no.2

i'm uploading my favourite b-sides then :nice:

oh Nik, you're star! thank you so so much already. ;)

correct me if i'm wrong... but all the people who listen closely to radiohead are intelligent.

it's just that their music is not easy to understand and not mainstream-ish at all.

btw... does anybody else like Thom's duet with Björk for the "Dancer In The Dark" OST?

don't know, hard question. not all of them for sure haha. i wouldn't answer to this one. i'd say Radiohead fans have by far better music knowledges and also probably art knowledges than an average music fan ;) but then again, all those people are not only Radiohead fans, they are more music fans, i guess. so they like Radiohead, because they like good music...

you might also hear that they are arrogant people, of course there are arrogant fans, but for me seeing "Rock for clever people" on the front page of a Muse site which is supposedly the best site on the internet is more arrogant than anything that i saw on Radiohead forums ;)

well, Radiohead were mainstream back in the 90s, somehow they are still now, though not as much as they were in 90s. but yes, compared to bands like Coldplay they are not mainstream

that's a good song, Bjork is great!
