I think love surely is one of the main themes, just think of the lyrics of Hurts Like Heaven, Us Against The World or even Princess Of China. And anyway, every Coldplay album contains a lot of love :P

 

And about the number of tracks, in a recent interview Chris and Jonny said they'd be 13... But who knows if they were saying it seriously?
