September 13, 201114 yr Jacknife Lee and Dave Fridmann on top of the list, but they should work well even with Alan Moulder, Peter Katis, Dave Sardy and Rick Rubin. Like i've said in another thread, with Rick Rubin as producer would be a REAL challenge for a band like coldplay.
September 13, 201114 yr Author A whole album produced by Dave Fridmann would be spectacular, he's the producer (among others) behind songs like these ones [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xJbEoc5sDw]Mercury Rev - Goddess on a Highway - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9cBm1EzQ00]The Flaming Lips-Vein Of Stars - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KutWoEO-4ZY]Low - Silver Rider - YouTube[/ame] and tons of other fantastic songs.
September 13, 201114 yr MX isn't out and you debate about possible producers after it? The community doesn't work any more. Sorry, but this is soooooo... I don't want to say it.

September 13, 201114 yr It's fun to speculate, so calm down. I'm backing Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Beck). Or Rich Costley (Mars Volta, Muse). I'd either like Coldplay to do something acoustic-electro a la In Rainbows/Sea Change or something a little bit heavier and theatrical - not Muse or Mars Volta kind of heavy, just more like 42.

I've mentioned Nigel Godrich before and I truly think he's the best candidate to help bring further evolution in Coldplay's sound. But unfortunately, this partnership is highly unlikely as Coldplay already deals with enough Radiohead comparisons.... how sad

In the same way that Eno reinvented U2, Godrich reinvented Radiohead with Kid A... I'd just love an In Rainbows-style record from Coldplay.

September 13, 201114 yr George Martin would be nice. He's the guy that produced for The Beatles. Although I think he's retired by now.
September 14, 201114 yr Author I immediately thought Rick Rubin. That would be fantastically strange. Like i've said before, Rick Rubin would be a REAL challenge for them.

I'd just love an In Rainbows-style record from Coldplay. That's actually the direction I thought they were heading. And then ETIAW happened
September 16, 201114 yr Oh fuck not Mercury Rev. I believe they opened the Australian Viva concerts - terrible and the crowd agreed.
