Favorite TKOL Remixes

Featured Replies

With all of the TKOL Remixes being released what would you say are your top 3-5 Remixes?

Ranked in order:

1) Jacques Greene - Lotus Flower Rmx

2) Caribou - Little By Little Rmx

3) Four Tet - Separator Rmx

4) Jamie xx - Bloom Rework

The Bloom Rework sounds so promising but it's far too short. :(

Honorable mentions: Lone Rmx, Altrice Rmx, Modeselektor Rmx, Brokenchord Rmx

I really like these:

1. Jacques Greene - Lotus Flower

2. Jamie xx - Bloom Rework

3. Altrice - TKOL

4. Caribou - Little By Little

I'm not going to vote just yet because I'm going to have a full listen through all of them. But as of now if I had to pick a top 5...

TKOL (Altrice Rmx)

Separator (Four Tet Rmx)

Morning Mr Magpie (Nathan Fake Rmx)

Bloom (Jamie xx Rework)

Little By Little (Shed Remix)

So far the two that really stood out to me are :

Little By Little (Caribou Rmx)

Lotus Flower (Jacques Greene Rmx)..

I still haven't made it through them all, but I'm getting there.

Yeah, I think the consensus is that the Caribou + Jacques Greene Rmx are the best of the lot. It's a shame they were the first batch though. :(

well that's because Caribou + Jacques Greene are probably the 2 best electronic musicians at the moment (less so Caribou)

I just expected more from Four Tet + Jamie xx.

Yeah me too. I'm a huge (uh, really huge. he's my favourite musician) fan of Four Tet but his remix was just really average :\

Makes for a good listen:

01 Bloom (Jamie xx Rmx 3)

02 Good Evening Mrs Magpie (Modeselektor Rmx)

03 Little By Little (Caribou Rmx)

04 Feral (Lone Rmx)

05 Lotus Flower (SBTRKT Rmx)

06 Codex (Illum Sphere Rmx)

07 Give Up the Ghost (Thriller Houseghost Rmx)

08 Separator (Four Tet Rmx)

I haven't really thoroughly listened to all of these enough yet, I'll have a better idea once I get the CD so I can fully digest them. Off the top of my head, I'd say top two for me are the Bloom (Objekt Rmx) and Lotus Flower (Jacques Greene Rmx). I'll probably have the Objekt one on repeat for awhile, I can't get enough of it.

I think I've only listened to a remix of Lotus Flower and never bothered to listen to the others. I honestly don't understand the point of remixes.

I should have waited to vote.

I'm really really liking the Brokenchord GUTG remix. Lots.

edit: And can I ask a stupid question? Why didn't Mark Pritchard just pick one Bloom remix instead of releasing the second one under Harmonic 313? Or why not just pick another song to remix and release it under his name? Why so tricksy?

I didn't know that Mark Pritchard and Harmonic 313 was the same :|
I didn't either until a month or so ago when I decided to Google 'Harmonic 313' because I thought maybe it was a Detroit reference (313 area code). Lo and behold it's Mark Pritchard's side project / other moniker but with more of a Detroit hip-hop feel. Apparently.

hmmm... interesting, I didn't know that. I'll have to listen to those two remixes to see any similarity in style at all.
