The tablets I got for being sad aren't working and I'm scared to tell my parents.

Also my tablets for my skin (in the few weeks that I had left coldplaying, I developed a skin condition) aren't working either. So I'm kind of in pain from that too.

Anyone have any nice or good news? Hearing about other's fortune thankfully makes me genuinely happy.

I'm sure somewhere, right now, some kid is finally kissing the girl of his dreams for the first time.

I think of that when I'm upset. It makes me genuinely happy! Go kid, go!

I'm sorry Emma

You should let them know if it's not working. At least get something else to help you to feel better!

Does music help at all? I can try to recommend some happy sounding sounds... though they might all be Paul McCartney songs since he's kind of a cheese-master

Good news? umm... I have a birthday coming up and hoping to get (and also chip in for) an iPhone :awesome:

Kiame,

Awhh that's quite a sweet thought.

Yeah I know I should Mike. They came down to me last night because I decided to hide under my bed sheets and ignore everything. They asked me if I was okay and I lied and said I was just tired. I could do with some music right now actually :nice:

Ooh cool :wacky: and early happy birthday! I'd love to get one but I have save up first. Also the voice thing doesn't work here  according to the guys in front of me in my lecture.

I've got good news :} It also has to do with pills so it might be relevant.

I already walk around with a weird condition for many years that's so weird that they could never diagnose me correct. Getting desperate lately because I got a burn-out and wasn't able to handle work anymore, they started prescribing me pills anyway, hoping it would help me. Really tough stuff. It didn't work at all. They got my hopes up, but I got dissappointed because the pills didn't help and not only that, because of the pills I got depressed and tired and sleepy until no end. Luckily the depression stopped as soon as I quit these pills.

After pressuring the regular doctor to let a sleeping centre investigate me I finally got a sound diagnose. The neurologist prescribed me pills again and this time it works! I am working again full time and back in business! :D Can't describe how happy this makes me.

After my own trouble I went through (seeing doctors/psychologists/psychiatrists for more than ten years, they tried twice the wrong medication and I had to follow a course about how to live with a condition that I didn't even turn out to have ) I can only advice you to tell people that you think these pills aren't working. They can only help you the best with this if you inform them correctly and in time. If you don't want to tell your parents, then at least tell the doctor so he can try subscribing you something else. It's normal that not all the regular pills for a condition help everyone. You just have to find the right pill for you. Do it, because once you get the right one it really can improve your life. It can even be that you got mis-diagnosed. Being sad all the time for once doesn't always mean you have a depression or SAD. A friend of mine had the same kind of problem and they tried several anti-depression pills on her. They didn't work. Then they found out that she didn't produce any melatonine anymore as a side effect of another condition and because no melatonine means sleep problems which can cause you to feel sad/depressed, in her case getting melatonine pills already solved her problem partly. For SAD also applies that pills aren't always working. I know several people with SAD that feel good enough by merely using a light therapy lamp.

And Kiame's remark reminded me of Barney Stinson :D

Mind over Barney. barnicle.gifFocus: "When I get sad I stop being sad and be AWESOME instead. True story!"

SAD is a condition? I just hate using the word depressed.

Awhh that's great that you got a proper diagnosis. Yeah, being put on tablets that don't work is kind of annoying D: especially if they affected you like that

There's a GP on campus which is free, I might make an appointment there :uhoh: but my friend said you have to wait ages to get one.

NPH

Anyone doing anything fun for halloween?

SAD is a condition?
 At least depending on if you think a condition should include mental disorders or not and if you think SAD is a mental disorder or not. Personally I don't like to think of SAD as a mental disorder. BTW, both me and the friend I was talking about don't have SAD.

GP might take ages and another disadvantage is that they are usually not specialized in anything. But the tablets you use now, weren't they prescribed by a doctor?

Halloween! I'll celebrate my birthday :D

Yeah, they're presuming it's hormonal and gave me stuff to make me not hormonal

Awhh cool :wacky: Happy early Birthday!

awh, I'm sorry you're not doing any better.

As for your Halloween question...I'm going to a haunted house tonight. I'll probably pee myself from fear, but it should be a good time. :)

Today hasn't been too bad, less mopey than yesterday.

I keep forgetting that there is a scary side to halloween :uhoh: haha.

Oh sorry to hear that :/ but maybe it'd be better if you told them so they could help you find something that does work. Good luck!

uuh ok som good news for you: I moved into a house with two friends + I'm gonna be working more which means I'll earn lots of money yay :cool3:.

SAD = Seasonal A-something Disorder. Basically when you're depressed around certain seasons like fall and winter, usually to do with melatonin and vitamin D stuff.

I know how you feel Em - I have depression too, and currently on meds that I believe are giving me bad side effects. One in particular being bad memory, I was told that was probably just the depression and just to keep taking my pills - except the problem started when I was taking them! So used to my docs just flubbing me off and telling me to shut up and take my pills.

Doesn't help that my current psychiatrist will only see me in six months for an hour. At least I have new symptoms to bother him with (waking up in sweats).

That's terrible that they are making you take them, surely you know your own mind better than they do :uhoh:

I hope it gets all sorted out.

Here, have a funny video to cheer all of you up

Yeah, you're never too old to go out and get candy!

It'll also be a lot of fun if you go with friends...
