Lhuna - iTunes Match

Featured Replies

I signed up for iTunes Match today and was shocked to see that Lhuna, Coldplay's collaboration with Kylie Minogue, was one of the tracks that matched.

I deleted my old MP3 and was able to download an iTunes Plus (256 kbps AAC) version of the song. As far as I can remember, my MP3 was ripped from a flash video. Has this song ever even been officially released? It certainly isn't available to download in the US iTunes Store.

Is it a lot better than what we already have? :)

Well, that's sort of what I was asking.

As I recall, Lhuna was supposed to be released on (RED)WIRE, which was a subscription based download service with proceeds going to support HIV treatment in Africa. They had a big launch on World AIDS Day 2008. They posted a bunch of videos on MSN featuring artists that were contributing to the project, and Lhuna was among the videos they posted.

I signed up for the service, which had problems from the beginning. They were supposed to post new tracks every week, but they were frequently late getting them up. The service ran on an Adobe AIR app that was really buggy. They finally took the site down after a few months to "improve" it, but it never came back.

As far as I know, they never got around to posting the MP3 of Lhuna on the site before they killed it. The track I had in my iTunes library was an audio rip of the MSN video. That's why I was so surprised yesterday when it "matched" a track from the iTunes store. It definitely isn't available in the US iTunes store, and never has been that I know of.

The track I got from iTunes is better than what I had before. As far as I can tell it's as good as anything else you would buy/download from iTunes. I just thought maybe I had missed an official release somewhere?

I had a few other (RED)WIRE tracks (actual MP3s, not web video rips) match, but they are available in the iTunes Store.

Can someone post this or send me a pm?

Or at least tell us how to find the song. Thanks! ;)

This is off topic but since you reminded me, is it possible to buy songs off of the U.K itunes if your in the U.S? U.S never gets b-sides or anyhting.....

Well, I don't feel comfortable uploading the iTunes file because my email address is embedded in it. I've uploaded the original MP3 and would be interested to see if anyone else can get it to match. As I said earlier, this is a rip of the MSN video

The easiest way to get an iTunes account in another country is to use a gift card to create the account. There are online stores that sell Japanese iTunes gift cards, but I haven't run across anyone selling cards for the UK. There's a pretty good selection of Coldplay b-sides on the Japanese iTunes store.

I can point you to a free program that can wipe your personal data from the file if you'd be willing to share :)
