Christmas Songs

Featured Replies

This weekend on a certain radio station here they played 48 hours of christmas tunes. WOOOO....someone kill me..if i hear Jingle Bell Rock one more time..i'm gonna have a stroke.

Awwww, I love Silent Night. :D

man christamas songs are great really get you into the spirit of christmas :/

I think I'm closer to Laura's position.

I'm not a big fan of Christmas music. If I go into a store that happens to be playing it I tend to leave with a slight headache.

Each December, when I hear the first notes of it, I stop and sigh.

It's just a little trite for my tastes.

my work had christmas songs playing non stop the whole day yesterday...from 10 in the morning til 6 in the evening :stunned:

  I've worked in department stores and drug stores in the past, so I know how it feels to be listening to the same kind of music (or even same songs!), specially when it's supposed to be all cheesy and cheerful and such...over and over again for several hours at a time!!

i'm not annoyed with Christmas songs, they come but once a year... I'm annoyed with the radio that plays songs that come but once EVERY MINUTE OF EVERY DAY ALL YEAR LONG!!! If I hear Avril Lavigne one more time, I'm going to go Fight Club on the radio stations

Aw I love Christmas music, especially O Holy Night

i love it too. in fact i'm not even christian and i have church music in my tiny collection! lol

I have a 2-CD set of Riga Boys' quoire (sp?) singing carrols...it's really super, and very traditional.

but i also have disney and chipmunks X-mas music! lol

i guess if it's just a few weeks out of the year, i'm fine with it. but not if i've to work along with those tunes piping in ALL the time!

thank god i work in office now! lol

Oooooooo Holy NIght.........

The stars are brightly shiiiiiiiiining..... :P Wheeeee I'm so getting in the christmas spirit! I need a candy cane

 we haven't put a tree or the lights yet!

vive le vent vive le vent vive le vent d'hiver :stunned:

It's cause we still have to go buy the TREE!

I tried to look up the lyrics of that song but they're hard to find...but i got one here at last. so here goes:

The Littlest Angel

as sung by Perry Como - 1962

Let me tell you a story that is often told

in the great Celestial hall,

All about an angel just 4 years old,

The Littlest Angel of all.

How all day he would play with a little box

that to others had no worth,

Ah, but there were treasures in that little box,

The treasures he'd brought from earth.

Just a butterfly with golden wings,

A little piece of a hollow log,

2 shiny stones from a river bank,

and the worn-out strap of his faithful dog.

Then the angels all heard that the Holy Child

would be born in Bethlem,

and they all brought presents to the Holy Child

and each gift was a heavely gem.

The Littlest Angel gave his little box

with the presents fine and rare,

then the Littlest Angel sat alone and cried,

for his gift was so meager and bare.

Just a butterfly with golden wings,

A little piece of a hollow log,

2 shiny stones from a river bank,

and the worn-out strap of his faithful dog.

But the Lord chose the gift of the little box

That a child had blessed with love,

and it started glowing that very night,

It became The Star up above.

When you see that star as it shines on high,

in the great celestial hall,

You will know the proudest angel in the sky,

is The Littlest Angel of all.

With his butterfly with golden wings,

A little piece of a hollow log,

2 shiny stones from a river bank,

and the worn-out strap of his faithful dog.

(i guess it's not the same unless you hear it sung...and Bing Crosby does as good a job as any! i remember listening to this CD/song while studying for my Physical Chemistry finals a few years ago at the univ!....that song, i'd heard for the first time, and it gave me goosebumps!)

i like christmas music a lot, i just think that most radio stations/department stores/whatever have a very tough time dealing with it tastefully.

omg Chad that version of Oh Holy Night is hilarious!!

haha, I had this crazy idea... burn it to a CD with some other Christmas songs, and then during Christmas dinner say "hey, lets play some Christmas music" pop the CD in there, and when the song comes on, see how long it takes for them to start noticing it, lol... I can just see their faces... "???? uh... am I hearing this right?"
