Anyone else think X&Y is better than AROBTTH?

Featured Replies

Everything thinks that A Rush Of Blood To The Head is the best album from Coldplay, but I've always loved X&Y. I'll explain.

But first of all, these are just my opinions, and I'm sure alot of you disagree :)

Let's compare, first of all, Coldplay's greatest song of all time is on X&Y. I'm sure you know what it is. If you don't agree with me, you are deaf. Fix You sums up Coldplay so well. Fix You is why I fell in love with Coldplay. Now don't get me wrong, The Scientist is amazing, too, but it doesn't have that impact that Fix You does, especially the guitar riff at the end.

Now comparing the beginning songs on each album. Square One vs. Politik. Square one is an absolute amazing song to start off X&Y, but I think Politik takes this one. I mean nothing is better than the dramatic piano after the beginning climax.

What If is brilliant. I'm sorry, but it just is. In My Place is good too. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face though, I just never thought to be that good of a song.

Clocks of course is a Coldplay classic. So is Green Eyes.

At the end of Rush of Blood, is the Rush of Blood song and Amsterdam. Two amazing songs. But do they compare to the last two (not including Twisted Logic) of X&Y: Swallowed in the Sea and 'Til Kingdom Come? In my opinion, absolutely not.

The Hardest Part is waaaaaay underrated.

Speed of Sound is beautiful. "And birds go flying at the speed of sound....."

A Message gets me every time.

In conclusion, if I was left to pick one or the other, X&Y would be my choice.

Tell me what you think....

Oh my goodness. I'm glad someone else feels the same way I do. Thank you. You summed it up pretty much exactly how would... (except for saying The Hardest Part is overrated, but whatever...) :)

I know really, X&Y is their best album IMO. It's so amazing on so many levels.

Oh yes! And even the album cover is way more awesome!

...Well, in my opinion, Viva La Vida is the most Epic (as in big and powerful and wonderful) sounding song ever, (not to mention all the strings) but it's not on either of those two albums, so I guess that was kind of random...

My favourite album is X&Y but that doesn't mean it's "better" than A Rush Of Blood To the Head. Swallow in the Sea is my favourite song of all time, but I don't really like Twisted Logic. But I wouldn't try to compare the any of their albums to eachother and amsay one is better than the other...it's all a matter of opinion.

X&Y is my facourite because I love What if, Fix You, A Message, Till Kingdom Come, talk, Speed of Sound and as I already said, Swallowed in the Sea. I'm in love with that song!

But I don't know A Rush of Blood To Tge Head as well, 'cause for some reason we only have a few songs from that album on iTunes, therefore meaning I don't have them on my iPod...but I love the Scientist and Clocks! :p

Anyways, that's what I have to say on the matter.

I think AROBTTH gets blown out of proportion on this forum. And when something like this happens, people who don't believe it to be the best album will make their voices heard louder than usual. It happens to me, too.

I find it obnoxious when people cling on to AROBTTH when new content comes out, and they complain because they miss the "old" Coldplay. It seems to me that "old Coldplay" is unfairly synonymous with "good Coldplay."

Truth be told, there is something great in every Coldplay album, and it's nice to see fans sticking up for the underdog: X&Y.

100% Agreed!!!

I actually love each album, my FAVORITE is X&Y. I also agree with LaurElizabeth's statement that it's my favorite album, but to me that doesn't mean it's better than AROBTTH.

Oh yes yes yes. Please don't get me wrong. I love every single Coldplay album, old and new. But as I said "IF" i had to pick one, I'd choose X&Y.

OMG! Thank you! It's fine! I was a bit worried that someone would freely say that...! My only problem with the song is the music video... don't watch it if you haven't already... :P

edit: And thank you for that censor edit. :)

Oh umm alrighty then... just as i was recovering from seeing it the first time... thanks............for that *goes to vomit in a corner*

X&Y is a good album, but AROBTTH is great. It was a better written album.

I can't think of X&Y and A Rush of Blood as self albums. A Rush of Blood to the Head is all about feelings while X&Y is all about thoughts. Heart and Mind. Emotions and Logic. They complete each other.

But I confess I like X&Y a bit more than A Rush LOL. It's just because I knew Coldplay with X&Y...

Haha! That's an...interesting music video...

Both albums are equally great. I have to say X&Y might be my favorite since I pretty much love all the songs. I always have the cd on. AROBTH is great in its own way.

Hope you feel better. :P

X&Y > AROBTTH here too. I love that album and I loved that era. And THP is one of my all time favourite Coldplay songs!

I was looking through the gallery and saw a lot of X&Y era photos too.

I'm a big fan of AROBTTH (I know I know, so typical) but X&Y has a special place in my heart.

I prefer other albums now but X&Y will always be special.
