as much as i want to travel i don't feel like i'd be comfortable going from a rural part of england to a city in an unfamiliar country i don't speak the language of thgough they are super cheap over there i know

Oh but everyone here speaks English and my university is not in a big city, it has only 40 000 inhabitants of which 1/5 is from the university.

Anyone on here doing a post-doc somewhere?

There is no such thing as "Cambridge" university, the city itself has quite a few colleges which if you get accepted to means you can say you attended a Cambridge Uni. Same with Oxford.
