Ohmygod let people live! Some people enjoy conversing with people, some people like to play games, some people like to do both, and it's fine!

See. They should be making posts like this.

See. They should be making posts like this.
My point is: just accept that people come here sometimes for reasons that are different to yours. You're a wise, reasonable man, I'm sure you can find a way to do that.

If people posted like this instead of in Lounge games, the board would be a better place.

It would also probably be a rather empty place though.

quality>quantity.

quality>quantity.

It's not necessarily a problem of quality over quantity and vice versa. I believe you need a bit of everything to make a good community. You may have members who started out as only posting in games, and then who started to interact with other people on other threads. Most of my activity on Coldplaying is related to Coldplay. My last post literally is:

" :omgomg:

:bomb:

THE FEELS"

It's not really a deep, meaningful post that brings something great to Coldplaying. I wouldn't come on the board anymore if I felt pressured to only post clever things. It doesn't mean I'm not ready to engage in any sensible conversation or debate at all. I just prefer having the choice.

I agree with Celine / Coeurli 100%. And she explains it so well.

Sometimes you want to read news, sometimes you want to post something - then from time to time it can be relaxing to post in one of the games.

the forum would get boring though if it was only games threads and i really don't think it would make much difference without them, people stay for the friends and the sense of community here and it adds stuff to our lives to meet interesting people and learn stuff etc.

carry on playing games by all means, it would just be nice to have them separate somehow.

I definitely agree that it would be good to have them separate, as it does bother people atm.

I also agree that being all about games threads would be boring (and ridiculous). But atm I doubt there's really any risk for that to happen anyway.

I definitely used to contribute a lot to this thread too

It's been months since I have posted there though.

The fact that I made that thread and posted 20,167 times disturbs me, looking back.

I don't understand what the problem is with the lounge games - if you don't like them, don't look at them. Nobody's forcing anyone to post anything there. And I know that when I first joined, playing lounge games helped for me to get used to the forum and open up to posting more 'quality' posts.

I remember when the forum was more active, posting on the lounge games with friends was a lot of fun. And blessedly non-Coldplay related.

As for separating the lounge games, they are already separated. That's why there's a subforum for them, separate from the lounge. The 'quality' threads are in the lounge, the rest are in the lounge games subforum.

And believe it or not the games actually do generate conversation. Nancy and I got chatting over lounge games and eventually talk about other things, exchange emails etc. Obviously they're not the best thing about the form but they do still encourage interaction and help to create friendships.

how about making quality games that result in a thoughtful response dun dun dunnnn

I was only joking when I said get rid of them. I don't care.

I just want them separate so when I'm on the main menu and I see there's been a post in the Lounge I'm not wasting my time to see somebody has posted a number. People should feel free to post numbers.

At one time in the A-Z cities Raphaële posted Y - and I thought WTF is that? I then learned that there was a French town or city with the name of Y.

In the game of A-Z Capitals there is the possibility of learning the names (and countries) of capitals. So some of these games are able to broaden your knowledge.

Wasting your time? That only takes one second.

Actually, I've forgotten that some of the lounge games can be interesting...like the ones where you have to answer a question and ask a question. You can learn some interesting stuff about people that way.

And they all add up. Just trying to make the board smoother and less frustrating, that's all.

SORRY
