I was wondering what Johnny's main overdrive is it he's ibanez tube screamer or he's fullton OCD?

I got £600 to spent on pedals for Xmas I'm getting an Line 6 dl4, rat, boss rv5 etc and I have £120 left so wondered what one I should go for? :)

Please answer ASAP as I have to get them soon thanks!!

No idea....but as a fellow guitar player also buying a lot of pedals right now...I'd say get what feels right to you (if you can try in person that's ideal) or just see what the reviews say. Even if you have the exact same rig as Jonny you won't sound like him because that too depends on the guitar, the amp, and moreover the person. Best of luck though - I haven't tried those particular pedals. I only use a Boss SD-1 but it has been quite useful.

 

*Wikipedia suggests Noel Gallagher really likes the Ibanez Tubescreamer, so that's something.

Truthfully, I wouldn't call either of those his "main" overdrive since the Rat is what was giving him the overdrive on most of their earlier material.

 

That said, of the two, he uses the tube screamer far more than the OCD (The OCD wasn't even on his MX tour pedal board.), but he uses the Tubescreamer more for boost than for proper distortion/overdrive. He uses the HBE powerscreamer more than either though (and now has both the regular and fat boost models on his board now) so if you're going for Jonny's sound and you're already getting a Rat, you might want to consider going with one of those instead.

Speaking of pedals......different sources say Jonny uses a Boss RV-3 vs. RV-5..does anyone know which is the actual one, or if you have a personal preference between those two and the RV-2? Thanks!

I've seen pics of his board with an RV-5 on it, never one with an RV-3, but he might have used both as he changes his board around fairly often.

 

Only ever used an RV-5 personally though, so can't comment on what the differences may be.
