Ok... I understand that Coldplay is a global band at this point, but with their British roots, and the amount of British fans on this forum... some of you have got to like Formula One, right?

As Chris would say "Anybody out there?"

Yes, I am American, yes I love Formula One. I was hoping we could have a conversation.

I adore Formula One! Became utterly obsessed with it when I was 10 years old back in 2001. Schumacher (my childhood hero), Hakkinen, Coulthard, Alesi, Button, Barrichello, Montoya, Ralf Schumacher, Villeneuve, Panis, Frentzen etc.....those were the days. Became a bit disillusioned with it last year when the racing was all round dreadful. This season is cooking up nicely though, if only from a Mercedes perspective where it is shaping up to be an incredible championship battle between Rosberg and Hamilton. Worryingly for Nico though, I can't remember Lewis driving this well in his 7 year f1 career. He's been more or less faultless.

Yes! somebody haha. I know what you mean. Hamilton had a great drive yesterday in Catalunya, battling the car all weekend and had the worse of the two Mercedes chassis and still was able to keep Rosberg behind him. If Rosberg had another 2 laps or so, it would be different, I think. I remember watching every sector delta for the last few laps between Rosberg and Hamilton and Rosberg was just destroying the gap. Hamilton is my favorite driver. It was good to see him hang on.

I used to follow the sector delta on my ipod when watching the race and it was brilliant but I could no longer find an app that was cheap and could do the job. It's a great way of following the race especially if you love strategy. Strategy seems to be the difference between the hard core f1 fan and the casual f1 fan who only care about overtaking! Like yourself I'm a massive Lewis fan but I also think Nico is a great driver although maybe not quite on the same level. Somehow Nico has to surpass what Lewis is doing on the track. He tried to mix it up yesterday by using the same tyre strategy as in Bahrain in opposition to Lewis's strategy. It's hard to see how he can beat him in qualifying though. Lewis is the best hot lap specialist I have ever seen in f1 and probably the best in f1 since Senna.

Mercedes going to test a new exhaust in Barcelona that emits more sound. I'm not going to lie, I miss the whiney noise of the V8s.

I don't see the need to try and manipulate the sound. The detractors of the sport today will point to other alleged fakery in the form of DRS and the Pirelli tyres. Keep it natural, keep it as it is I say. Everyone wants the V8's back but for me I was always disappointed with it following the downgrade from V10. You could really hear the maniacal grunt and POWER behind those engines like in the video below.
