If I knew how to directly insert a photo or three into the thread, I could take some phone pics of what the chords look like from the vantage point of the player looking down at the fretboard

Oh, that would be great ! You can upload them using that "insert image" button (the one with the tree, next to the video strip) and choosing "From Computer" :)
