20 years of A Rush of Blood to the Head

I'm quite surprised to see that there is no open topic on this anniversary so I'm starting the topic.

20 years... Time flies. I don't know why but I feel a lot of melancholy about this anniversary, probably because the MOTS tour is the confirmation that the band is on a very different trajectory, definitely.

To be honest I'm torn between the feeling of sadness because I still find it difficult to accept that the band has become an industrial pop machine and therefore the quality of the songs is no longer the central element of the band (instead the show). Maybe because this album are released before internet too. But on the other hand, I am extremely grateful to have left us this gift.

Like many others I think this album is really special and it forms a quartet with Parachutes, X&Y and VIVA which has accompanied (and still accompanies) the lives/youth of many people.

Thank you Coldplay for this joy. AROBTTH is so special, so perfectly imperfect and so "Coldplay". I fully understand that the band needs to evolve and given the success of the MOTS tour but maybe I don't understand the world. I sincerely hope to hear more AROBTTH live one day because we need more emotional and reflection in this world too.

Nice article about the making of AROBTTH :  https://www.thisisdig.com/feature/a-rush-of-blood-to-the-head-coldplay-album/

I don't post much but I feel obliged to make a comment on this thread.

AROBTTH is my favourite album of all time, and I doubt this will ever change. Here are some of the reasons why:

1) There is literally no song that is weak. Some people argue that A Whisper and Daylight are the clear weak tracks off the album. I couldn't disagree more. In fact, Daylight is my favourite Coldplay song... period. The strings, piano, bass, drums and overall dark atmosphere elevate this song so high that it can't be beaten.

A Whisper is actually my 2nd favourite Coldplay song of all time. I can understand why people don't like it, but the song is so damn hypnotic with those guitar sounds. My least favourite song from this album is a toss up between Green Eyes and The Scientist, but even these songs I would never dream to skip. Some of my other favourite albums still have one or two less enjoyable songs, so this shows how strong the overall album really is.

2) The variety between songs are amazing. You have heavier, more rock-orientated tracks like Politik, GPASUYF, Daylight and A Whisper which all sound superb. But then on the same album you have slower, melancholic songs like Warning Sign, Amsterdam and The Scientist which balance out the album brilliantly. Every band member gets a chance to shine, with some tracks being more guitar orientated, while others more piano or acoustic orientated.

3) The album is so cohesive and timeless. Despite the variance that I've mentioned, the trackless works a treat. You get songs like Warning Sign and A Whisper back to back, yet it just sounds right. And 20 years later, the album has not even remotely come close to going out of fashion. Take for example Clocks which sounds so modern in hindsight. The way the album starts and finishes could not be any better either, what fitting songs to place at either ends of the album. The album cover and title are amazing might I add!

does anyone have a way i could watch the interview guy and will did with zane lowe about this album? i dont use apple music.
