I don't bother locking the door until I'm going to bed or leaving the house, but then I make sure that there aren't any windows open at all.

Although there isn't a lot of murder or violent crime in my area (Vancouver), it is absolutely HORRIBLE when it comes to property crime. Since moving here nearly 10 years ago, I have been broken into 3 times and they've taken EVERYTHING  and my friends are always having their cars broken into- like 3 or 4 times a year.

However, I've walked through the Downtown Eastside (junkietown) and places like Kensington Market or the poorer areas near the CNE without a worry or care in the world... but I would never, ever have gone anywhere near the real projects in Toronto- that's just asking for trouble. I think the point that Moore is trying to get at is that poor areas in Canada don't immediately turn into crime-infested slums... and I'm sure that's the case for a lot of working-class areas in America either, but poverty isn't that visible here in a lot of respects in comparison.

Ok- I'm rambling- shaddap now :D

my original plan was to throw my drink and the retard and run for my life, but then I looked behind me and his friend was standing at the door. No one messed with my friends!

well my family leaves their doors unlocked when we are home but we live in the most hidden places of a hidden neighborhood in a hidden city that no one knows about. they are paranoid. i got locked out today because they locked the door. my house no my city is like the burglar ghetto. nothing here to get. but toronto is a city of many so leaving the doors unlocked should be unheard of. :snore:

hey now..i've got some peeps down there, yo. Don't be hatin'... :dozey:

Hello. Wanna come over?

We should have known though that this guy would be such a retard, we were in Scarburough when it happened. haha

Don't you mean SARSborough? :D

Scarlem is what I call it :)

Grr, why does everyone think that? lol I've lived in Scarborough my whole life and I haven't had any problems at all. Then again, I live right on the border between Pickering and Scarborough and it's a pretty good area...but I've lived in other areas of it as well and it isn't as ghetto as everyone thinks it is. It's actually pretty suburban...but I guess compared to areas like Pickering, North York etc. it's not as swanky

that is true, its funny because people who don't live there think its all ghetto but the people that do live there swear that its so suburban. but its really unfortunate about all the shootings that have been going on the past few months in scarborough :(
