Professor Peedston
...can actually tell the difference between American and Canadian money! I tried using a Canadian quarter and dime today in a soda machine, and it kept spitting them back out, as if it somehow knew that the Canadian money was only worth 3/4 of the American equivalent. Anyway, I'm sitting here comparing the two coins to the American counterparts, and as far as I can tell, they're the same size and weight. I guess soda machines have more complicated machinery than I thought. This has been the Waste of Time of the Day, brought to you by Tom.

Sally_
I know! I hate it when all you have is an american quarter and you want to get something out of a vending machine but it won't let you...so you have to go beg a quarter off of someone... Professor Peedston
Anybody who can tell me how the inside of a soda machine works will win this prize, which I will randomly pull out of my pocket... *fishes in pocket* A Canadian quarter! Professor Peedston
Yeah, actually I have a nice pile of change too, which is where I pulled out the Canadian change from in the first place. Probably not 20 bucks worth, but we don't have $2 coins here and $1 coins are exceedingly rare. :P

CityandColour
Yes... I know that.. When I was at a McDonald's in Canada, they had pop machines there and stuff, and we had to get some Canadian money to get something out of there.
