Much as it pains me to say that, I actually think a longer hiatus of a few years would be quite helpful for their musical quality. I thought that when AHFOD was out. Now of course Kaleidoscope EP was already a step in the right direction and shows that great song can come during touring as well (at least AICTAIY and Hypnotised, I'm not sure if we can count A L I E N S because it has roots on an older Era and I don't know how much input this song actually still had to get in ths Era). Chris has hinted at trying other formats of music release and not necessarily thinking in terms of albums. I actually hope they don't go that way. Single songs and EPs are good but I actually prefer listening to complete albums, especially when they are well done and have a great flow (AROBTH...) the whole is so much more than the sum of its parts.

Yes but I somewhat remember that the period leading up to LP7 was full of elimination games and riddles and all that stuff. Granted, there was already a LP7 thread for speculations, so maybe it's a little bit too early for this kind of activity. Hopefully soon.

I agree about him looking signifcantly changed as of the MX Era. Before, he had more of a nerdy, dorky appearance (more than today, I mean) The hairstyle, the new biceps...I think in the MX Era he really tried hard to be this "cool" pop star, probably under the influence of 'idols' like Jay-Z or Kanye. I don't like his appearance during the MX Era at all.

I don't connect with the song at all, despite its good intentions and cause behind it it's musically and lyrically a mess. MX noise enriched with meaningless chants...

We actually do know a little bit about the making of X Marks The Spot: You’ve said you wanted to write a song for Rihanna. The hidden song on this album, X Marks the Spot, sounds like one you might have done for her? Funnily enough that’s the one Stargate didn’t do. We did that with our sound guy Dan (Green) who makes tracks in his spare time. When the album was about to be handed in I asked Dan if he had any drumbeats, I wanted to send a video message to my brother. He gave me this thing he’d been working on, I made this silly message for my brother. I went upstairs for a drink and this melody and lyrics just came pouring through, I ran back down and asked Dan if we could use the track, we made X Marks the Spot in 10 minutes. F--- it, let’s take a risk and put it on there. THIS. The number of times in AHFOD Era interviews in which the main question was "What was it like to call up Beyoncé ?" instead of anything about how the music is written. And it is true that no one ever talks about how Jonny creates his guitar riffs or Will develops drum patterns. And no one ever cares to ask about older B-sides, some of which literally know nothing about - how they were written, what inspired them etc.
