AUSSIE FANS - COLDPLAY concert (has come) or is coming!
Got my ticket today. I'll be moving back to England shortly after this concert, but what a way to say goodbye to Australia than going to a Coldplay concert! :D

Aussie Support - Ashcroft
Does he do Bitter Sweet Symphony during his support????!?!?!?!?!?

AUSSIE FANS - COLDPLAY concert (has come) or is coming!
I'm a Brit currently in Australia. I watched Coldplay live in Bolton (England) this July, and will certainly be going to the Rod Laver Arena show in Melbourne, since that is only about 25 minutes by car from where I am!

The Ashes !!
WE WON THE ASHES! One of the best moments in recent years. First we toppled the Aussies in the Rugby World Cup, now we grab their throne and end their legacy as world cricket's greatest team. English sport is just getting stronger and stronger, how much longer until we make a serious push for top three overall medal count in the Olympics? Great performance by KP today and a heroic effort by unsung hero, Ashley Giles. Just a great day, hurray! I'm more proud to be British than ever - great culture, history, music (duh! Coldplay are our boys!), and now we're becoming one of the kings of sports again!

The Eagles - Hotel California

The official **KEANE** thread
Excellent band, second only to Coldplay right now, in my opinion.

3rd single poll FINALE - Talk or Square one?
Square One. One of Coldplay's new anthems! :D

Rush of Blood vs. X&Y
My personal opinion: Square One vs. Politik Lord, this is a tough one. Both songs are amazing and I think they are the perfect way to open concerts. The big anthem that is Square One, then with barely time to catch your breath, the harder Politik. But Square One is giving me the shivers every time I hear it right now, so I'll go for that. Winner: Square One What If vs. In My Place I love What If and think it should be played more at concerts (they did play it at Bolton BEFORE the concert, but on the TV screens to promote one of the charities. What If makes me think of the world and its problems, and what I could do to help. But In My Place is just an amazing song that never gets old. Even now I shout "YEAH!", so I give it the edge. I think What If will become a classic in years to come, though. Winner: In My Place White Shadows vs. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face Another toughy. I went off GPASMYF for a while, but the recent spruce up at concerts has made me fall in love with it again. But White Shadows is one of my favourites off X&Y and I think the lyrics are great. Winner: White Shadows Fix You vs. The Scientist Amazing songs, both of them. But Fix You is THE song of X&Y for me, and only Clocks compares to it in my eyes. Fix You defined one of the best months of my life when X&Y was released, when I went to see Coldplay live, when I watched Live 8 on the big screen in Manchester city centre (was anyone else on this board there?) and went to all kinds of cool places. So I'm a little biased, but c'mon, Fix You is just an incredible song... Winner: Fix You Talk vs. Clocks I really like Talk, but for some reason the old version hit me more, even though the new version is also cool. Nothing besides Fix You on X&Y can compare to Clocks, though. Some people say "Yellow = Coldplay", but for me Clocks defines Coldplay and is a magical, timeless song that I will listen to until my dying days. Plus, the new intro and outro to it at live gigs is AMAZING! Winner: Clocks X&Y vs. Daylight Daylight doesn't do much for me. I like X&Y even though it isn't one of the better songs on the new album, so I give that the edge. Winner: X&Y Speed of Sound vs. Green Eyes Speed of Sound may be a recycled Clocks, but if you're going to recycle any song and give it a new touch, it is Clocks. Speed of Sound has been overplayed on the radio, which is why I am not listening to the radio, as I refuse to be burnt out by it (the live versions are great). Green Eyes is a very nice ballad that I would like to hear live before I really compare it to SoS, but I don't think SoS gets the edge for now. Winner: Speed of Sound A Message vs. Warning Sign Both very nice songs, but I think A Message is slightly better. Winner: A Message Low vs. A Whisper A Whisper is probably my least favourite Coldplay song. Its so unlike Coldplay. Low rocks. Winner: Low The Hardest Part vs. A Rush of Blood to the Head Another one for the new album, AROBTTH was one of the few disappointments for me of the album by the same name, while The Hardest Part is a sleek, catchy tune. Winner: The Hardest Part Swallowed In The Sea vs. Amsterdam I like both songs, but Amsterdam is amazing and one of Coldplay's most underrated in my opinion. Great lyrics and great tune. Winner: Amsterdam Overall: 8-3 to X&Y

Your least favourite Coldplay song
I like most of Coldplay's songs but "A Whisper" is surprisingly substanceless for them.

Favourite All time Coldplay Song?
Yep, I would have to go with Clocks, though Fix You really challenges. Clocks has an amazing "feel" to it that few songs have (another example is Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve) and is just timeless and magical.

Is Don't Believe The Truth better than X&Y?
Its funny. On a British Airways flight I was on last month, one of the radio channels had both albums on back to back. They'd play the full Coldplay album, full Oasis album, back to Coldplay, then Oasis, and so on. Having listened to each time and time again in an attempt to kill time, its obvious to me that X&Y is a far superior album. Keep in mind that I'm not a completely biased fan, as prime Oasis was one of my favourite bands, but their stuff lacks the edge and interest it used to, and comes across as totally generic now (Lyla is a good recent song of their's though), while Coldplay's themes are not only intelligent (mostly) and easy on the ears, but also a lot catchier.

3rd SINGLE, 2nd Semifinal
White Shadows definitely has that fast, catchy mainstream appeal that I'm not sure Talk does. So I'll go with that.

Create the perfect Coldplay album
Lets say that you have to introduce Coldplay to a massive new audience in the form of an album specially compiled for them. What 12 songs would you play and what order would the set list be in? For me, its... 1. Square One 2. Politik 3. Yellow 4. God Put a Smile Upon Your Face 5. Speed of Sound 6. Don't Panic 7. White Shadows 8. The Scientist 9. Clocks 10. What If 11. In My Place 12. Fix You

Things you don't like about X&Y
I love it all, but maybe I'm too diehard. Okay, Till Kingdom Come doesn't do an awful lot for me, but its not traditional Coldplay, and I like it live when people sing along (ie, Toronto bootleg). But I like all the songs, but I think this may be becaise the album's release and month after it (which included me seeing them live in Bolton) was one of the best months of my life, so it'll always be a special part of my life. I even love the "exclusively released" song on I think its the Japanese version, titled How You See The World.

Does ColdPlay have no fan age limit?
In Bolton on July 4th, during Fix You, they were all up and dancing. Young children with their parents, old people, all age groups. That is the charm of Coldplay, their style caters to all age groups and brings all generations together.

Bolton 4th July - what's your view?
Sorry for the lateness of this. It was absolutely the best night of my life and I was in a constant state of euphoria for the duration of the concert. Arrived far too early and was sat in the cold for hours, but was worth it in the end. Plus, Elbow made for a good support band, especially one of their songs (someone know the name?) that really went over well with the crowd. Here are a few lousy pics of mine from the show - my film ran out early in the concert, so... 1. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/scans/england2005/coldplayb4reebok1.jpg - Outside the Reebok #1 2. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/scans/england2005/coldplayb4reebok2.jpg - Outside the Reebok #2 3. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/scans/england2005/coldplayreebok1.jpg - Inside the Reebok #1 4. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/scans/england2005/coldplayreebok2.jpg - Inside the Reebok #2 5. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/scans/england2005/coldplayreebok3.jpg - Inside the Reebok #3 6. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/scans/england2005/coldplayreebok4.jpg - Inside the Reebok #4 7. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/scans/england2005/coldplayreebok5.jpg - Inside the Reebok #5 8. http://www.puroresufan.com/images/scans/england2005/coldplayticket.jpg - My ticket

Bolton (Reebok Stadium) shows [2005]
Hey. I'm flying home to England in May, and I want to attend one of the Coldplay concerts with a friend. But the eBay auctions selling tickets are screaming "TOUR IS ALREADY SOLD OUT!". Is this a ploy or are the Bolton shows (July 4th, July 5th) really sold out already? If they are, I will have to pay astronomical eBay prices I suppose (I'm hoping for seats, I don't think my legs could endure standing up!). Thanks for any help.

Coldplay singing about history?
This will sound weird to 99% of people, but as a lover of history, if one band could sing about history, I'd want it to be Coldplay! With their intellectual, mellow style, I can't think of any band more suitable to sing about history. Perhaps the government should hook up with Coldplay in a British history awareness program, and let them sing about 1066, the Black Death, the War of the Roses, and many other events in our nation's history if they are interested (didn't Chris major at history in university?). Sorry if I sound off my head, but this a legitimate wish of mine and I reckon they could pull it off (some of the lyrics in "Don't Panic" make me think about history)!
