Hypnotised - first song off Kaleidoscope
I woke up this morning, opened FB and the first post was a friend sharing the video. This a very good song, it's clearly better than the whole AHFOD. It's the Moving To Mars of this era

SoS is the song of my adolescence, it's been my ringtone for almost 10 years. But I understand and respect your point of view :) The only oldplay song I really dislike at all from the first time I listened to it is Viva La Vida, I still can't figure out why it became their bigger hit.

It is a clear homage to My Bloody Valentine's "Loveless" album, one of the milestones of the early 90s shoegaze scene. If you want to find Foo Fighters in a CP song just listen to Moses, it is veeeeeeeery similar to Learn To Fly

that was the intention, let's try to make a laughter about it instead of taking it badly :) . By now I'm used to this kind of effort from the band, and I remember I said I would have left after the AHFOD release but I'm still here and I wonder why. We all know that the band we all loved is dead during the summer of 2011 Inviato dal mio ASUS_Z00AD utilizzando Tapatalk

"Something Just Like This" - The Chainsmokers & Coldplay
Just to clarify: I try to listen to every kind of music and I also like to explore genres that are very far from my comfort zone. Talking about EDM, I really like Inna for example, and also a lot of EDM music from the 90s and early 2000s. I see myself as a very open-minded person, but it's my opinion about myself. I just can't accept a song like this one because it's bland, repetitive, without climax, forgettable, generic. Probably it's not CP fault, during the day I tried to listen to the most well-known songs by Chainsmokers and they're all mediocre.

I mainly listen to pop music, also because EDM it's not pop, it's EDM.

They always suprise me... they always manage to create their worst song ever EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. ETIAW -> PoC -> ASFOS -> XMTS -> Now this one You just can't defend a song like this, remember it's the same band who created Politik, Square One, Spies, Violet Hill,.. c'mon

Jonny's riff is very dreampop in Fun, maybe the best things on AHFOD is that guitar sound

Think you can name all 43 songs in this one big song?
I think I don't know at least half of the song you put in :D

If people have the will of writing in a CP-based community I think it's because they think they are fans of the band. I don't know why someone should say they're not just because they don't like the recent outputs of the band. What the guys have done during the last few years doesn't erase the emotions they made us feel during the early years with their awesome music. So the ones who say that people like me aren't fans of the band anymore are wrong. I'm the only one who can say if I'm a fan or not, but I know it's difficult to accept different opinions. I'm not saying this with anger, just take my opinion for what it is. There was a moment some years ago in which the guys were among the best bands in the world, now they're not anymore, but they're still capable of releasing music of that level. That's why I still follow them

Kaleidoscope EP
I used that word just for time saving reasons :) I stopped to make war about music a couple of years ago when I just realized that everyone has its own perspective of music. Sorry if I let you intend that I was going to open again that topic, it wasn't my goal.

I read it, I know you were saying something different, but you talked about production not properly (always ihmo obviously) 'cause you were trying to defend the quality of the "Newplay" songs. Let's talk frankly: during the gap between VLV and MX the band changed their target, and their style and genre by consequence. A person can like it or not, but this is what happened. Now, how can we compare songs like Spies and Paradise? They are just too different, they're galaxies apart. I'm not saying which one is better, I'm just saying they're like being played by two different bands. This is mainly because of the friendship relation between Chris and Jay-z, that led CM into another world, the world of mainstream pop stars. That was the point of no turning back. I'm not saying it is a bad thing, it depends on what one tries to find in the music he listens. I always try to find something that surprise me and that links to my musical taste and my soul. Pre-MX Coldplay managed to do it always, post-Viva fails to do so very often. But I still love them Inviato dal mio ASUS_Z00AD utilizzando Tapatalk

I was told some time ago that Brian Eno and the band had to get through several issues during that recording session, mainly because the artistical direction that the album was growing with wasn't being well received from both the parts. That's why Eno left before the session finished and the band started to overproduce songs.

We're not talking about how good is an album or another, we're talking about production. MX, aside from the quality of the songs it contains (that is partially subjective), has a poor production because the high and low frequencies don't get enhanced and because all the instruments, background synths, etc. are mixed in a way that all the sounds are confusing. You can appreciate this by listening MX-era songs live: they are ALL better live. This thing doesn't happen with Parachutes or AROBTTH and even X&Y. This is the consequence of the turbulent relationship between Brian Eno and the band at the time MX was being released. In fact, during the GS era the production was waaaaaay different from MX, becoming even too polished and clean in a bunch of tracks. Talking about AHFOD production isn't needed, because a great number of people here said that Stargate made an awful work (just listen to Up&Up live and studio version for example, that song has been killed). Comparing the production of Parachutes and MX is like comparing the sound warmth among vinyls and spotify Inviato dal mio ASUS_Z00AD utilizzando Tapatalk

So MX is better produced than Parachutes... I haven't got words anymore, it's just a mistification of reality

Coldplaying Listening Party
It certainly is, it's clearly pre-Parachutes CP material. IDK why Debs said that, but I'm so sure about it (it was also confirmed to me from CP's world "insiders" from another CP-related community). VLV is the only pre-MX I always hated, but I've already said it some time ago in the Oldplay thread ;)

Lukas always amaze me... I've always thought they should've put on the album replacing Viva La Vida As a bonus track, I suggest you to listen to the instrumental version of We Never Change :D
